Gave up on them and FN, found a used set locally and spruced them up myself.

Keep an eye out on the blems. I scored a set in about 2-3 months scoping the thread out.

3 of my 7 wheels are blems. I really can't find the flaw on the blemished wheels... truly.

Wow that’s crazy. To bad I brought the BR6’s instead. I hope I’m happy with those for now.

Never understood the slow production rate at SCS. Lots of loss $$$ when customers go else where to get what they want. Not too many people will wait when they want to mod their trucks so go figure. $.02

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
I like that they are hard to get, I went through a local Offroad shop for pretty much the same price as buying direct from SCS.
I also like that they are just for Toyota and not Ford, Chevy, Dodge.
I know in Cali there are lots of guys running them but here in BC they are still fairly rare.
I went through the Gear Shop in Calgary.

Pretty simple to understand. They don't have control of production, SCS is not a foundry/factory they don't make anything. They order it and sell it.

The mechanics of how that process works are simple in theory, more complex in reality. Sure it easy to say: "Why don't they just order 25,000 wheels so they have them in stock all the time?" Anyone wanting to remain in business has to control inventory, having a mountain of inventory sitting idle is death. Finding the balance point of reorder seems simple enough, and it is except you bump up against the supplier capacity and availability schedule. The supplier isn't sitting by just waiting for your next order...he's producing other products for other streams.

The supplier has his own scheduling conflicts that his is constantly juggling, the bigger the order the more attention it is going to receive. So an order for 800 wheels for SCS is not going to have the same priority as an order for 250,000 castings for Widgets Inc.

It's always easier to spend someone else's money and say: "Just order more! Go for it! It pays to have inventory in stock so nobody waits!" That's a guaranteed path to bankruptcy. Going in big all at once seldom works. A perfect example of how to fail in business is how the Hanlon brothers and the state of Minnesota wasted $100M of dollars building a complete state of the art robotic motorcycle production facility to produce the Excelsior-Henderson Super X. A bike that wasn't even designed yet, had no dealership network and was completely based on the idea that if Harley can sell old outdated bikes, we can too.

Blems. I have 6 blems and can’t tell maybe paint was a bit too thick. Anyway easy fix? Just buy two takem to get mounted at Goodyear. They will guarantee to fuck them up and buy you two more lol

You're not wrong... Had my spare tire mounted at Goodyear. Their mounting machine left big ol scratches/gouges on the inside of the barrel. Fortunately it's the spare and on the inside of the wheel, so I didn't care.

I found the easiest way was to go through a shop that sells them. Just tell them what you want then they call you when they have them in. easy peasy

I agree with you 100 but I guess my point is projection and history of what sells. if SCS was ordering 800 wheels at a time and he can't keep them on the shelf for long then maybe next order bump that order up a little. Obviously it works for him so all good, but since his wheels are Great wheels it's a shame their not available all the time. $.02

You sir, are spot on...a lot of people here have a difficult time understanding the inner working of a business. And I get it, it's frustrating to not be able to get the wheels when you want them. But you gotta admit, that adds to the allure of SCS.

I'll add to the above. Imagine you, as the seller, has a container or two of wheels coming in. You obviously have to receive, sort, and store them right? Requires manpower and most importantly, space. SCS is in my backyard (SF Bay Area) and rents here are pretty crazy. And maybe rents have settled a bit but SCS moved into a bigger spot prepandemic. I've seen it myself and it's pretty big for just a wheel outfit. Another thing is capital. These guys don't have tons of money just ready to pull the trigger on 10 containers. Well, even if they did, I think they're smart enough to know not to blow it all in one shot. You also have to account for lead times. These wheels are made in Thailand. Say the wheels cost them $100 each and they order 500. That's $50k out there in limbo with what I'm guessing has to be 3-6 months or more from order to warehouse.

And let's face it. Aftermarket wheels aren't exactly toilet paper or hand sanitizer right now. It's pretty much a luxury good. And surely Vin's team realizes this. I think given the circumstances, they've hit the supply/demand ratio as best they can.
