Not to split hairs, but if the battery is COMPLETELY flat your charging system won't supply any voltage.. field coil needs some juice!

When my 2015 came in and I got it, the clutch felt real mushy for a long time and didn't really grab too good at first. It took 10K miles to break in and now feels like rock solid. I always worried at first, I had a bum clutch before it broke in. Do the new models need to broke in like this one? Just curious as maybe this is normal as no other make I have had took this long to break in.

I own a third gen and I’m not sure if they use a different setup than your truck, but in my opinion every third gen Tacoma I’ve driven has felt really tight whereas the second gens never felt quite as good to me initially. This is strictly my opinion though and others may have completely different opinions. So I think it’s probably just nature of the truck but I could be wrong.

My DD is a 02 Tacoma with 470K on it. It still has the original clutch, its hydraulic clutch is stiffer than my 69 big block corvette manual clutch, and the transmission is sloppy as shit. No wonder my 20 transmission is so smooth. But it did take a few miles to break it in

Good observation! I never realized I do that (because I've driven MT all my life) and I've often wondered why people are so insistent on filling up every available foot with their cars.

Everyone has a different point of view. For me, even brand new vehicles are " Kit Cars " to be modified and customised to my own personal taste. this allows it to become mine. maybe its just my OCD. I think it is wonderful everyone can share there different Ideas / perspectives makes life more interesting .

    Yes.

Also if you have a push start you need a small amount of power to initiate the electric ignition switch. I couldn't bump start my dead battery fiesta ST with a manual and push start because the battery was so dead I couldn't press the "start" button into the ignition position. This is not the case with old fashion key and ignition cylinder which physically closes the circuit to "ignition on" (lets the injectors and computer get power when you bump start).

I feel that. I'm just staying out of Sport versus OR, AT / MT, bed stiffener (esp the weaksauce versions), and other dumpster fire threads.

Folks don't seem to understand that each person is just one individual opinion. Most folks don't read enough of a thread to build a proper consensus or even consider being persuaded by a good discussion.

A big ol' meh for a crappy ol' 2020.

    Because it is available!

I have 'ordered' (dealer is seeking an allocation) for a manual Taco. I am used to manual gearboxes and if it is available in a vehicle, I definitely prefer, and will choose this over any alternative.

Realistically, if the Tacoma was not available in a manual, I would likely be looking at some of the various (boring) urban AWD SUVs that are only available as an Automatic as it would be more sensible than the Tacoma... (Lighter, more seating space, better MPG, and still mountain snow capable - even if less off-road capable).

I am not interested at all in any other available pick-up truck options -or brands...

In Australia, most of my outback trekking has been done in Land Cruisers - series 80 and 100 - all with Manual transmissions. I am used to manuals and I much prefer to have a manual when trekking very far away from the nearest shop...

It was not easy to find a manual Taco in the desired trim (hence the 'order'). To my surprise, MT's are spoken for quickly...

One dealer took delivery of a Taco as I wanted in AG (in an uncommon combo). It was perfect! - BUT it did not have the Manual gearbox...

I could not bring myself to do it... the Salesman said the next guy he called would buy it on the spot... (I am sure he must have... and he should...). But I had to walk - I went to see it as I was curious... (I had not seen / driven a 3rd gen Tacoma before) - But I did not hesitate to walk away... I have commented from the beginning; it is an MT taco, or no Taco for me... The MT option is what initially called my attention to the Tacoma.

It is not because the Auto transmission in the Tacoma is good or bad... - I do not consider this at all... I prefer pretty much all aspects of driving a manual - on road, and off-road over an automatic any day... If it is available, I'll choose this every day!
