Must have for me, works perfect for smaller or loose items. It greatly increases the utility of the front half of the bed.

If you wanted to take them on and off (like say I only needed it for a weekend) is it a major pain? I saw back one on the website (cover-mount rack I believe) and was curious how long it would take to remove/install it.

    Thanks!

I've never taken them off but I don't think it would be too difficult. There is a lot of clearance between them when both flaps are open.

Did you have to drill new holes or does it use the ones pre-drilled for the cleats?

I did, I'm not too concerned about "weatherproofing" my bed since I park in a garage daily and it hardly ever rains here, but I figured the extra protection couldn't hurt.

I will advise though to be careful removing those bolts. I stripped the first one trying to get it off, turned out it was my crappy torx bits from Harbor Freight, the T30 bit needed was a little more rounded than it should have been so it didn't dig into the bit head as it should have. Once I got a new set it worked just fine.

I had to drill some holes. I'm not the best do it yourself guy but I managed without any issues.

I gave up after I started stripping the first couple bolts. I park outside and I get some water in the bed but only a small amount after a hard rain. It's waterproof enough for what I'm storing. The original cover just let the rain flow in.

I did not use the supplied foam strip. I did seal that rail though. I used two rows of adhesive sealant. The same stuff I used to close up the gaps at the bed sides to front bulkhead. I also used it under the bedrails when I replaced them from my OEM tonneau. This is the stuff DB recommends. I just bought it in the big tube. While I was putting on new rails, I figured I would weather seal under them as well.[IMG]

How many bolts did you use in the FR rail to DB cover?

So design was finalized last week and I just got an update from the fabricator. The first one is underway and will hopefully be back from powder coating in a few weeks(crossing fingers). The final product will be configurable for a truly multipurpose system.

Yes I went with a full height 18inch rack. The diamondback added roughly an extra inch to the over all height of a traditional rack. I have a prinsu rack on the top of my truck so we will see how well it will line up.

Perfect. I'd definitely like to see the end product. How many legs are you planning on having? 3 like the UpTop TRUSS? Also, this should still allow for the cover to open right?

I have the HD diamond back so I went with 4 legs. Yes, you will be able to open both panels however this is dependent on the configuration you decided to use.
