    Update with my fan:
Got the AEM temp sensor installed with the moshimoto sensor housing into the upper Radiator hose. Lingenfelter module all done and programmed. I hooked the power up to an ignition in cab which comes one with the key(nothing in the engine bay is a true switched power)
Took the truck out and beat on it.
It tripped my 60A circuit breaker(I need to up it to 80A) and The whole Time I didn’t realize it wasn’t running(truck was loud enough)...temps ran away from me. So quick that it reached max and truck shut off due to high coolant temp:facepalm:
After getting power back on the module wouldn’t power the fan since it was higher than the max programmed temp. Had to unplug it, dial it up to 300 and plug it back in. Lesson learned I’m DEFIANTLY wiring in an over ride switch.
most of it was my fault, but I’m getting it dialed in. Once it’s running this fan is a BEAST. At 100% it sounds like a jet engine about to take off. I was praying my mounts were in there solid because if that thing let’s go, all hell will break loose(no pun).
Overall I’m impressed, just need to figure out the programming a little more on the module. Thanks OP for leading the way on this mod:cheers:

When the controller is setup right it never really hits anywhere near 100% and yes st 100% it sounds like the truck could fly

    Shit Hit the Fan Operation

Your fail mode interests me because I worry about the reliability of this system when I am boondocking.

Without a aftermarket guage, the only problem indication you had was the idiot console temperature guage and ultimately the "High Engine Coolant Temperature" display on the Taco multi-function display? I don't (yet) have a twin turbo with a resonant side exhaust, so the absence of the air boat decibel level I guess would also be an indicator. :)

Did the Tacoma ECT shut off your engine? So after resetting the circuit breaker, you had to engage the fan and cool it down with IGN on but strictly off the battery because your alternator was not running? That high amp draw (<60A) must have strained even your small (34?) Northstar battery a bit depending on the cooling time.

The Lingenfelter manual states on page 8, paragraph 2 that the fan should operate at maximum speed when the input temperature is greater than the Max Output Temp setting. This is contrary to your experience where you had to dial it up to 300 to make it work.

So you defiantly (?definitely?) would install an override for the failure condition you experienced. Are there other circumstances where you might make use of the override switch?

My first take away to accompany this customization is to consider a battery with more reserve and to configure the Ligenfelter override polarity for +12 activation (page 5) and dedicate a button on my SwitchPro to the override.

And when the Lingenfelter bellies up, are we all SOL, even with an override?

there is alot going on here. the failure mode of the lingenfelter kit is to go to 100% command if the CONTROLLER dies. where as his failure mode was the too small of a fuse issue. for that its simple. amps=watts/volts. so if we have a 843w fan operating on a 12v system it requires a minimum 69.5 amps to run at 100% thats why a 80-100 amp fuse is used.

Yes, the reason for @MESO failure is simple. My interest is in the after effects of a Ligenfelter failure (for unknown reasons) and ways to work around the failure when in the wild.

well there are 2 ways to deal with a failure out in the wild. run at 100% command and know you system is cool. 2 remove the fan housing and electric fan and install the mechanical you packed with you. there is no issue reverting back at all.

So can the DIP switches be Configured to switch to 12V+ override? That would be super handy with the switch pro. Or taking into the AC compressor compressor :anonymous:

the system you got is already programed for 12v activation and the white wire on the controller can plug into a switch pro or any switch on 12 volt and will be user command on.

I only briefly looked at it and I assumed it was ground switched.

So, in an emergency, 100% command could be achieved by completely eliminating a failed Ligenfelter module from the kit and grounding the PWM input signal on the fan?

yes the default is to open circuit and let the fan run
