Put together a tune based on 04B91 stock which includes a few basic tweaks and layers in three big ones from you (@tonerd). Detail below and tune is attached. Flashed it earlier today and drove it for a few miles. So far I really like it! Having a few acceleration blips through the power band, but they're at the same points as before the tune, and I think they relate to the built-in ECU octane-learning. I deleted the learned values before the flash and jacked up the octane levels with Lucas additive as an experiment since the truck really responds well to increased octane levels (i.e. feels better w/ 93 vs. 87). Expecting that a tank will smooth out the blips (which happened the last time I deleted learned values and ran a tank of this mix).

    So... here it is...

89663-04B91_STOCK_MOS_Mods_V3_TonerdALCv3Tune+ATRAv1+PTTTv2.vft (attached as a .txt file... just rename to .vft)
    - Vehicle Maximum Speed Global (282(kmph) = 175mph)
    - Throttle AirFlow - Throttle Management - First Gear Throttle Limiter + 4H/4L/Rev (100% in all maps, for all values)
    - AirLoad Control - Control AirFlow (select entire map; paste @tonerd ALC v3 spreadsheet data)
    - AirLoad Control - Expected AirFlow (select entire map; paste @tonerd ALC v3 spreadsheet data)
    - Acceleration Throttle Request to Airload (select entire map; paste @tonerd ATRA v1 spreadsheet data)
    - Acceleration - Primary Throttle Torque Target (select entire map; paste @tonerd PTTT v2 spreadsheet data)

    Nice!

That is great that you are feeling these edits on the Stock tune. Certainly a good way to go while waiting for OVT to support this ECU.

    Dumb question Incoming!
Once I get VF up and running, is flash manager obsolete? Can I just uninstall it, or does it need to be updated?

It is still useful. Did you update it for the 2.0 release?

Yeah, I've had 2.0 since it dropped for B41.
I've since done some exhaust work and was gonna flash the dump file, but I'm on an old version and it wouldn't download. I've tried to find the new version on OV's website but can't find it. I know Matt's got a million dollar noodle in that head of his, but navigating his website is for shit.

Anyway, I'll hopefully have everything done to start using VF soon. I was therefore wondering if I should even bother with flash manager.

I find it helpful if there are any driver changes and such since those update functions are not in vF yet.

@tonered is 1.3.0 the latest version of FM?
If so, I can't figure out why I can't flash a different file.
    Any insight?

I don't recall. You have to uninstall the current version before installing the new one. Some folks, including me, have had my System ID change with recent Windows Updates.

Yeah, I uninstalled what was on the 'puter, and installed 1.3.0, which was the most recent blog post. It still wouldn't let me download a different tune.

I swing a hammer for a living, maybe I should take a few swings at the laptop?

Thanks for the help, at this point ill wait for VF and hope things go a little smoother.

Did you reinstall the REG file? Also, run through the update choices in the FM menus. Purge Local Data, Install OVT Drivers, and Update?

I get the frustration. The modern world isn't the easy one that was promised.

I honestly need to be spoken to like a 5 yr old when it comes to this stuff. I thought I had a handle on things when I first flashed 2.0, but it seems everything I knew (or thought I knew) has been lost in the ether.

I didn't do anything but uninstall/reinstall. All those other things are way above my pay grade.

I'm not totally stupid, mind you. I just need a lot of repetition before it sticks. Age is probably a huge factor here.

I try not to do that with nice folks. Here's the steps:

Install Flash Manager to install the OVT / Tactrix drivers:
    https://www.ovtuned.com/blogs/news/ovtune-tacoma-flash-manager-overhaul

    FM update details:

    Install your REG file.

    From there, do this:

Config / Purge, then Config / Install All Software:

Then, Tuning / Install OVTune Cable Drivers:

    And finally, Help / Update:

Same here. And, I do better when it is hands on. I'm a slow, painful learner, but the results can be really good a times.

    Wow.
So, I purged local data and the only tune options it gave me were stock and 1.05.

Ready to just throw this thing out the window.

The only thing I can figure is that I installed an even older version of FM. I have no idea how to tell what the most current version is?

    That is strange.

The version shown in the screenshots above (1.3.0) is the latest.

Let me get back to you in just a bit. I will boot and see what I see.
