Finally got my ShmellFab rock sliders on today. I am well pleased with the fit and finish, and Ryan is a hell of a nice guy.

From watching the install video, it’s two straight cuts to the plastic which I think holds the front air dam in place? Then you remove that section and store it along with the crash pad parts. No additional trimming on any visible parts but you are advised to take proactive precautions with the painted plastic as far as rubbing. To revert to stock you’d zip tie or jb weld that plastic back in place. Though I’m not sure it serves much of any purpose if you don’t have the air dam.

Its a leading contender for me but I still need to do some reading on the CA DMV rules and I don’t believe they have any solution for a front license plate?

SDHQ hidden winch mount is also on the list as well as a front hitch mount since that opens up some options for carrying long loads as well as winching and trailer parking while maintaining stealth/stock appearance.

It’s a nice product though and a good price point and can be had with or without hoop and with or without powder coat. With a license plate bracket and recessed recovery points for soft shackle only it would be a clear winner for me. I like the lines the best out of all the slimline bumpers.

Yeah that is what I thought. There is a piece of plastic that holds the air dam on the front that has to be cut off. I had already removed the air dam and tossed it in the garbage so I didn't mind cutting the plastic piece off. Took about a minute with a jig saw and a metal blade.

Winter tires/rims. Alpha command and Blizzaks because they were in stock locally and better than steelies for just a little more.

3” lift, 265/70/16 Wildpeak ATs on stock dipped SR5 wheels (for now). Meso stuff (puddle pods, Gasshole, stage 1 taillights) Pro grille, 5% tint, some other stuff
They’re decent. Good light output. I will eventually (maybe) get different fogs but these will do the job until then. The install was pretty easy and they came out perfect using the wet method. One spray of water is all you need.

Personally I don't have a lot of confidence in dealerships when it comes to working on my Tacoma. Unless it's something that I'm not comfortable doing myself I avoid dealerships like the plague. I prefer going to a good mechanic whose work I trust instead.
In all instances I prefer to do the work myself whenever feasible. I trust me. Dealerships? Not so much, even with something as basic as an oil change.

Keep an eye on B/S/T here on TW, they come up from time to time when members change over to sliders.

Mounted my Smittybilt Element Ramps to my roof rack. This is a simple and effective way to pretty much mount anything to your roof rack. In my opinion it's a better AND cheaper option than the MAXTRAX mounting pins.

BTW: These are Smittybilt Element Ramps, NOT F***** MAXTRASH

All you need is: 1/4x20 bolt, nut, washer, flanged wing nut
