If it doesn't have a title that seems sketchy. I'd say run away.

I agree, it's even more sketchy that he's basically dropped his pants to get it moved. If it didn't have any liens on it, why wouldn't he just get a title and sell it for closer to market value? Red flag.

SuperCab or SuperCrew and what bed size?

For 15-20, it didn't make sense to me to get a low or mid Lariat. They didn't even have LED headlights. For 21, I'd definitely consider a mid or low since they added so many features from the 502 to the lower levels.

You can get a 5.0 on just about anything. I do love my 3.5, but the 5.0 with the 10-speed should be a good combination.

Agreed. I don't see it being a big problem, BUT DIY is a LOT easier without two turbos to deal with.

Oof. Good luck with that :(

For that price...I dunno, I would consider it for sure as long as you can get it started and running and moving in the lot.

Ranger? o_O THAT would be a draw. I would, honestly, drop my Tacoma in a heartbeat if there was a warrantied 5.0 in the ranger. I'm sure there's some shade tree mechs thinking about dropping in the 5.0, they're mated to the same transmission so I'm sure it's not that hard to pull off. But would want a Ferd warranty instead of some sketchy dude saying "She's good give it the beans!"

That's good. Maybe its the extended cab instead of crew cab you can't pull off in Lariat or something like that. I've heard the 10 speed has "problems" but it sounds like people bashing the shit out of it on the 10 speed and blaming the transmission. And the problems are a vocal minority so, overall seems to be doing all right.

Hmm. Fair point, yeah I'd see what happens with liens and titles and whatnot if you buy one.

I think I'm gonna go SuperCrew with a 5.5' bed. I'm to freakin' old to load snowmobiles and motorcycles in the bed anyway. The mid lariat is pretty well equipped. I think it has everything I need- LED headlights and fogs, remote start, heated and cooled leather seats, all the bells and whistles... but it's also a $58,000 truck.

That would be something! I know it would fit, but they probably wouldn't go for that, in their efforts to show how great the ecoboost motors are.

I saw someone did a 3.3 Powerstroke Ranger with a 6 speed and they made it into a race truck

Oh I know Ford would never do it :( sad. Unless the next gen brings a raptor version of the ranger. But even then, they'd probably do the 3.5 instead :angrygirl:

Maybe that will be my project one day. Get a 5th gen ranger and drop a 5.0 in it "for fun". I'd straight pipe that baby.

    ....maybe a cutout instead...

Is that for the half ton? I know the new 10 speed in the gas Super Duty was having problems with the Gen 1 but I think they're getting it sorted out. I wasn't aware of the half ton issues, I thought most people seemed to like it.

I'd guess a Raptor Ranger would get the 2.7 Ecoboost, they seem to like the turbos in their Raptors...

They're on gen2 now and they drive great. I drove a 6.7 with the gen2 and I was surprised!

Yeah I think in the half ton they were having some complaints.

    :laser::sawzall::welder:

The engine mounts would be the hardest part, since the 2.3 doesn't have the same footprint. But the transmission hookup would be, in my mind, an easy part - they already mate the 10R80 to the 5.0.

Most likely. Or at least a version of the 2.7. In theory, the truck doesn't even make sense - you wouldn't desert run a mid size truck, BUT I still want one.

Yeah my buddy has a 20...19? Thing is sweeeeet. I'd consider it but they're just so much more truck than I need, and about 2x the cost of my tacoma. We'll see one day maybe eventually probably not.

Don't tell me I need to keep worrying about transmissions! :annoyed:

The rebuilt one in my GMC is making a small squeak/squeal when it downshifts. Works fine but I'm pretty sure it isn't supposed to do that. :censored:

Thanks man I appreciate it! How's it hold up? Any issues? You go with bolt or welded sliders? I feel like they're not a company that's really talked about on here from what I've seen.

Sounds like they've gone up a little. My 2020 502a's sticker would have been right about there if the dealer ordered it with max tow instead of having all the options added individually and if it didn't have the pointless navigation.
