Yea, we use to consider Sun-Thurs school nights. We still do except we switched from a parochial Jr. High, to a Jr. at 4 year city college with no hope of graduating.

There is a scene in a movie where the children are referred to as "Chitterlings". Of course I can't remember which one.

Question: How did the word chitterling or chitlin come to apply to children?

Answer: Chit is a term for a child, and it also refers to a root or a sprig of new growth. In Middle English, the term chitte refers to a young animal. Chitling is used in the southern United States to describe the smallest pig in a litter. The word chitlin is probably a regional pronunciation of the more proper chitterling. Chitlin as it applies to children could have its root in these word variants or may have evolved from the sound of the word, which is very much like the word children.

I think it's a term of endearment, like sayin' "nose miner" or "Lil'un". Especially for the child of any Dad that wore a 10 gallon hat and chaps as a young man.
