I have an IP, might try rice in it. I've never been a fan of rice tho.

YW. I think you will like it. Don't overcook it, the smallest chunks were a bit dry.

i love rice. On our instapot, First you rinse the rice till the water is clear, add rice and appropriate amount of water then high pressure cook for 1 min, which ends up about 10-15 total, depressurize.

Any reason you smoke low temp first?

If you're between a rice cooker and instant pot, get an instant pot (or similar). I use mine for:
    Yogurt
    Chicken Stock
    Chicken
Ribs (That was OKAY, but wouldn't do it agian)
    Corned Beef (that's good!)
    Potatoes
    Stew
    Pork Loin/Roasts

I'm wanting to try some more stuff in there. I make yogurt about once a week though and eat it for lunch/dinners. You can use it as a slow cooker too, just open the release valve and set it to low or whatever. If you have the room to store it, don't be shy on the size. I'm wanting to try a pork butt in mine but it's just a shade too small, so I might have to figure out something to make that work.

OH! Yeah, reheating stuff. I reheat smoked ribs/sausages in there, comes out excellent. We don't have a microwave, so that's my go to.

I had one, but everything I cooked in it came out dry and bland in flavor...gave it to my mom, she loves it.

Let me guess, some IP group online posted about ribs in the instant pot and raved about how they were the best ribs EVAH and just fell off the bone so you had to try it?

I am convinced these folks never had good ribs that say that. Instant Pot is great for what it is and convenience, but it is not a one pot does all appliance some think it is.

Nah, I made ribs and then thought I'd give it a whirl, I actually hunted down the recipe myself. The ribs were better than if I had done them wrong, I'll give it that much. Reminds me of the Anthony Bourdain episode of him in the Ozarks when they go duck hunting, and one of the guys says he doesn't like duck. Bourdain does a real deal carve and cook and blows them out of the water with it. When you cook it wrong, of course having a better method makes it better.

    :annoyed:

But I know how to do ribs on the smoker, so for me it was worse. BUT acceptable.

Better than mine then. I tried once in the instant pot and threw them away.

I was waiting for this. There are thousands of rice varieties and preparations. Don’t shun it until you’ve tried them all :)

Yes, coz pellet smoker. The higher the temp, the less it smokes. So smoke it, then cook it. I also used a pellet tube thru all of it.

A craftsman does not blame his tools for a bad outcome, same goes for cooks and their appliances. I've never done ribs in my IP tho. Why would I?
