Looking to pawn off my HT 26" motobecane and pick up a 29er over the winter/spring I think. Probably looking at the book or the list. Sticking with HT but there's a lot of stuff I want to do, cost would be as much as just getting a 29er used with it already up. Dropper post, 1 by conversion, tubeless conversion, etc the costs stack up and I'll just spend that much on a facebook special with it already on there!

Last questions for you all, do you leave the thules on all the time? Notice any MPG noticeable differences or did the weather start to break them down? Debating on how "Secure" I am going to mount these things- permanent weld on legs and welded on bracket to keep them on or some form of Frankenstein bolt that will fit through my adapters I made that are only accessible by taking the entire topper and rack off etc or moving them off and on seasonally. I also need to think about what kind of "Legs" to weld (Or bolt) Off of the rack.

I meant what city? He lives in Alabama and is possibly interested in picking them up in person and hitting some new trails.

Wow. I clearly didn’t read your post.

I’m in Newnan GA. It’s about 30 southwest of Atlanta on I85 and roughly an hour northeast of Auburn, Alabama.

If you are worried about MPG you shouldn't drive a Tacoma. But as for wear and tear, it is definitely harsher to keep them mounted but since then I have gone with a Latch-It Rack and hardly use that bed rack setup anymore. I would not trust a removable bolt to secure the racks

Those of you with a Sentinel. Did anyone swap their link with a Cascade link? I already have the X2 shock which feels fantastic - just debating on buying the V1 link from someone. Figured it would only improve the ride and even out the travel a tiny bit with the front being 170mm.

My Tacoma is low to mid 20s but removing the air dam, heavier wheels, adding bed rack etc I wondered how many modifications hitting the MPG would eventually add up. Just curious. Everyone always says "Don't drive a tacoma for MPG" But for me it does fantastic, especially considering the MPG of the trucks I came from... I would get 8mpg in my titan- but then again I was in college and had a lead foot. ...

Thanks for the feedback though, haven't heard of the latch-it racks until now.

According to my truck I’ve been averaging 15 mpg with bed cap and RTT on 265s...it’s kind of sad. Add the bikes in my bike rack and it’s even worse haha. Until they make an electric truck with reasonable range and super fast charging I’m happy with it haha.

So I'm obviously impatient and indecisive.

My Stumpjumper order was delayed. I found a Norco Optic IN STOCK and ready to ship. Pulled the trigger on that instead. Think it will be better suited for the trails around me anyway.

My wife said she would make me put the air dam back on if it dropped to 18 haha... Hanging at 21 .8 ish with all my modifications, but we bike to work and rarely drive so the highway miles work in our favor :)

Never heard of a Tacoma with a V6 getting “low to mid 20’s” MPG. Usually it’s more like 15-20. What’s your secret?

I took off my air dam. I should put it on to see how it does. I usually don’t drive to work either so it’s fine. I have been driving a bit more recently though.
I got 20s before I added all kind of stupid shit haha

If I am good about it, I can get 27 in my truck between home and work in the morning. 8 miles of suburban streets with light traffic.

I was mid 20s before the additions I listed above but primarily highway driving, or short jaunts around town. living on the flat side of CO, driving about 5 above the speed limit not using cruise and being light on the pedal (Mostly). I am at 21.8 today with removing all of the stuff.

But it makes you smile haha. I will be totally fine lifted getting 18-19 ish. I saw somewhere someone did the math and the 1-3mpg difference is pretty negligible in terms of cost. 5-10 mpg.. sure but for my smile factor/ convenience to keep my adventure rig and my favorite truck I will compromise a little bit. I don't want a full size so all this stuff is to keep me tacoma loyal... but like above advances in tech may make this my last one... unless the Bring in the diesel mid-size so I could tow a camper haha.... now that will kill your mpg

Pretty much. I'm stock, I'm averaging 20-22 in the summers, I have zero highway time on the way to work it's all city. Once you do wheels tires suspension skids sliders weight/tire stuff, saps your MPG.

3rd gen V6 auto. Yee Haw!
