I didn't receive the letter, but had this service done at the beginning of July. At the time codes P2442, and P2440 needed to be showing...iirc.

They replaced the pump and valves, no issues since. I just wish I would've known this was the issue from the beginning. I had evap codes popping intermittently before that. So I jacked the bed to replace the charcoal canister. Expensive for what it is and a pain to replace.

I got the letter awhile ago too. Took it in for the frame inspection, and they looked at the air pump. They said the frame was fine, and there was no codes from the air pump. I did tell them I had a reoccurring code, but was for "small evap leak". I replaced the fuel cap and it didn't come back. They said they were gonna order the parts to replace the air pump/valves, and they would replace everything when they do the frame treatment, and would provide me with a rental for the day. Getting it done on Tuesday next week.

Never got a letter, but saw it on my carfax report when I bought it back in early July. Called dealership today to set up a time for repair. They're ordering the parts and are going to call me when they come in. I'll update in a week or so.

I did, called the service desk and they said parts will be ordered and they will contact me when it arrives. Once I get in they will inspect, install and if needed order more parts.

My pump(actually the valves) crapped out a couple months ago while getting on the entrance ramp on 95 while going to work at 4 am.

Between the letter( oh, and I just got the letter a few days earlier) and reading about it here, I knew exactly what it was as soon as it happened..
I "limped" home at 25mph and swapped vehicles and went to work.

I had (and still have) a Uni-filter on the intake. I swapped it back to the stock foam rubber before I "limped" to the dealer.

got the truck back in a couple of days.
They must have a replacement kit for this as everything related to the pump was replaced.

What I don't like about this is the truck goes into limp mode for an emissions related pump. IMHO, this should not be designed to disable the engine to limp mode just for safety reasons alone.

What if I made it on to the highway and this went into limp at 65mph? Scary , and dangerous, if you think about it.

Welp, finally had my truck throw the P2442 code and go into limp mode. I keep a scanner in the truck so was able to reset. Called the dealer and have this set-up for Thursday.

On a side note, I had already performed the Uni filter mod a few months ago. The factory foam filter was completely intact at the time, so this is not necessarily a filter issue as much as it is a valve issue.

Make sure to remove that UNI and put it back to factory before you bring it in.

2014 with 52k. Will inspect this week. If needed, I'll probably buy a foam replacement and cut to fit. Briggs Stratton has one the correct height for about $6.

ETA: pulled my covers last night. Very slight dirt on one side of filter. Vacuum, light wipe with damp cloth, dry, reinstall. 5 minutes maybe.

Ok, so the repairs were completed by the dealer this morning.

The only thing that irks me, and I didn't notice this until I had already got back to work, is they wrote on the invoice the truck had no codes. While it didn't at the time, I had a P2442 code earlier this week that I had cleared. I took a pic and even discussed it with the service advisor prior to repairs. Not sure if that had any bearing on parts that were replaced or not. I guess we'll see.

Dealer invoice listing replaced parts attached.

I had a "pending " code and the dealer here replaced the pump & the valves. The pending code came and went but it happened more frequently. I'm wondering if Toyota's diagnostic software can access a "history" of codes. In my case they had ordered the parts without even seeing my truck. For me it was a painless process and I was very surprised.

In your case, the bottom line is that they replaced everything no charge. Gotta love that.....

Yeah, I had called Monday and scheduled, so they did order the parts ahead of time without seeing the truck. Plus, I was only there about 2 hours, so all-in-all about as painless as you can get for a dealer trip.

Got a letter last fall and even though I had no check lights on the dealer replaced the valves, filter, and cover - which was missing when I bought it. The new filter is similar to the old one but looks like a stronger material.

Prior to this I damaged and repaired the pump housing outlet tube where the hose connects but they didn't replace that.

Interestingly I came across Toyota's instructions for a similar service campaign and it looks like the dealer installed the filter in the wrong place. o_O
