Not that it helps you but I don't have a crank issue on my aeromotive 340 no external filter at the moment. Might throw in a check valve to be safe with the fuel filter. but not necessary

I have the DW 255, I used the included hose with the urd kit and I have not put in a check valve. It’s been over a year and I haven’t had any long cranking issues yet.

Where abouts do we add the check valve? I picked one up just in case. Figure with the tank dropped swap it in.

Check valve can go on the external line near the external fuel filter. I think pix were posted somewhere in this post

have you had luck with this heat shrink? My kit just came in and it didn’t have butt connectors. The instructions say the supplied connectors are fuel resistant. Seeing as how I’ve already got the check valve and summit fuel hose I figured I’d check in on the wiring side of this before I tackled it.

I’ll know more tomorrow with the 100 miles round trip to work but so far it feels great. I won’t say it’s an improvement but I actually feel like I’m getting 100% all the time. I did go ahead and put the check valve and the upgraded summit fuel line.

Does anyone know if we can use the URD Fuel Pump even if were not boosted?

I have a 3rd gen with the pump recall and am thinking of just using the one from URD.

Not going to hurt anything using an upgraded fuel pump. Just make sure the kit fits the 3rd gen and you will be good to go. I am not familiar with the recall on the 3rd gen but make sure it is for the fuel pump in the tank. I do believe those trucks have a high pressure fuel pump for the direct injection, and if that is the issue you will still need to get the recall done for that.

What Murph said. Especially if it makes it where you have a serviceable fuel filter.

Got 112k miles on my 2013 and no running or starting issues and fueling at WOT is perfect. That stated, peace of mind and a replaceable fuel filter would be nice. So.... I'm FINALLY starting the process of collecting parts for this. Ordered the Racetronix tube (actually a few lengths as they are cheap and shipping is 15 bucks).

Anyways, I plan on going the URD fuel pump upgrade kit with the DW 255 pump. Is the best way to still use the supplied butt crimp connectors? Any special heatsrink over the connectors?

I would say yes, use the provided butt connectors, they are gasoline rated. If you do want to use heat shrink, make sure it's good for gas or it may degrade

Yeah, not sure what the preferred way is to go about joining the wiring together. Butt connector and submersible heatsrink over it? @Torspd you have done a few fuel pumps what do you like

Either works, as long as you're proficient in either.

Done multitudes of the bitt splice style, with no ill after effects.

For DSCB owners, any tips or tricks. Outside of making sure tank is near empty when dropping it. What connections are there?

I assume fill, vent, maybe evap?, fuel line out fuel line in and fuel sender plug?
