I would assume Black then. I think Grey is for SR / SR5

The cab is exactly the same as a 2nd Gen only with high strength Steel so the 2nd hole is already there, it gets a J Nut or Nutsert.

Also, there is another thread, like 20 pages long, about exactly this topic. It's even on the front page of the 3rd gen forum.

It gives your head a place to impact upon a collision! Srs, though, that is why Toyota removed it from the 3rd Gen.

It’s not there because there is an airbag in that pillar

There are similar airbags in both pillars. @Bertw192 and @heybronicetacoma have covered this in excellent posts in the past.

performs the same function as pass side when getting in. Also a place to rest my left hand instead of holding on to the roof. Also makes the cab symmetrical. :)

You guys realize the passenger side has a pillar handle AND an airbag too... right?

If you watch the slow-mo of the crash testing, you'll see the a-pillar molding get's pushed to the side as the airbag deploys against the windshield. The addition of a molded plastic handle means little to nothing in the event of a collision.

But yes, this senior citizen would like some aid when entering his automobile.

Sorry... I misspoke. The airbag opens against the side window. All the same, the handle will not inhibit the action of the airbag.

You can also see in the video below, there is evidence of the head making contact with the grab handle, but in my untrained opinion, it looks pretty minor. I'd be more worried about overhead MOLLE racks, GPS units on the dash, crap in the cup holders, your dog in the back seat, etc, etc... before I'd sweat a small plastic handle.

No... no one except KTJO4x4 (Katie) has received one. They're currently sailing across the ocean.
