Yeah that’s rough, I’d say their homeowners insurance will definitely go after the man if there’s a case to be made.

I feel he should’ve burned in smaller amounts, I see both sides of this and sadly both parties seem like they’ll be hurt in this.

 

That was our questioning why he didn't do a little at a time. Smaller areas at a time and this would not have been an issue. What sucks is there is an adjacent property that was clear cut with more acreage than this one. When he burns that area I hope the winds are the opposite direction.

 

It sucks, but if he has the permits, unfortunately, there's nothing you can do.

I burn leaves every year. But so does everyone else around me, so the smoke is a given in the Fall season. Of course I have a burn barrel and a fire pit, so nothing acreage size.

 

I’d rather have it for 24 hours than a week of burning.

 

There is really isn't a proper solution. Other than picking a day by happenstance that the wind is blowing towards the woods. My sinuses are stopped up and the attic fan wont cut on to suck the smoke stench out of the attic. Definitely the source of the smoke smell inside the house.

Good news is that with air temps are rising it has lifted the smoke somewhat. Winds have shifted to a more westward flow. Good news for our road but the folks directly across the street from the property are still getting hammered.

We get it from them burning off Ft. Benning down this way when they do it. I don’t mind because we don’t have crap like Cali has because of it. Better to get rid of it instead of letting it build up and be a lot worse later when someone or something sets it ablaze. Inconvenient, yes but you get permits in advance most times and can’t predict where the smoke is going to go.

 

I think some have already made contact. From what I've read and the way I understand it the smoke management is not required but is encouraged. The NWS in Birmingham even has a page dedicated to prescribed burns and wind directions forecast for this very reason.

 

We need pitchforks also.

Why do you hate a campfire??? That’s the smell of camping without the costs. Go outside put the taco in front of the smoke and Gram it!!!

Campfire outside fine, inside not fine. All of our clothes from the master closet, couch, bed sheets, bed, everything have to be cleaned. A little smoke from a burn isn't bad but when the smoke is so thick you can't see 50 feet in front of you for hours on end, it sucks. It permeates everything.

Busy week, I have fallen so far behind on this thread I gave up. Good news, Skid plates got painted last weekend. I got my exhaust rerouted this week so I can install them this weekend. I get my bumper installed next Friday. That at least gives me some armor to start coming back out with you guys.
