Anyone into Vintage Computing?

I'll start off by saying I'm not the biggest nerd in the world, but I collect older computers (within reason) and use them from time to time. Just wondering if anyone else shares my weird side hobby. A lot of my machines are from the mid to late 90s (90s kid) but I have some 80s machines too.

I'll update this later with pictures of all of them but here's my list.

• Apple eMac G4 1.25Ghz (literally only purchased for Halo for the Mac)
• Leading Edge 486DX (never really tested this)
• Generic White Box Pentium Pro full ATX
• IBM PS/2 Model 25 Color with MFM Hard drive and 720k Floppy
• Sony Vaio PCV-E203 (Windows 98 era Media Center PC)

There's probably more I'm missing, my spare room is just filled with retro technology, I have other oddball stuff too like retro software and peripherals. One of these day's I might start selling it off, 90% of my time is spent in the garage now making things.

I’ve got about five Macintoshes, a few Classics and some SE. The one on the bottom right was gutted and used to be an aquarium.

On top is an Apple II+, Apple IIe, and a Magnavox Odyssey II.



On the middle left cubby is a IIGS and some disk drives. One of them I believe to be a prototype as I’ve been told by the previous owner. It still has the internal Apple inventory tag.



This is my old II+ board, video port was dead so I tried repairing it. No bueno so I just replaced the main board. Didn’t have the heart to throw it away.

 

I used to have a Macintosh Classic, unfortunately the CMOS battery corroded a lot of the traces on the motherboard. I think I parted it out after that.

 

i vaguely recall when they first put one of these in my elementary school in '82 or '83, the school had one on a cart and each classroom had to reserve it and wheel it down the hall hahah

I'll have to share the rest of my collection later, going to a baseball game this evening but I've got a basement filled with vintage Macs, 8086/486/Pentium I & II era machines though.

Curious on what old OS you’re using. I was quite the Assembler programmer decades ago. I could make DOS do anything including direct access to super low level HD and video memory.

 

Depends on the machine. This one is just using Windows 98, but I've got some running DOS 3.11 and another using old Mandrake Linux

 

I never could do that but I was a proficient with DOS commands and edlin. I liked WordStar, Lotus 123 and was merely adequate with dBase. I avoided Windows until Windows 2000; a research program I had to have quit supporting DOS. It has been no fun and basically an increasing pain ever since.
