    The outfit I've been working for has been building cell towers - Verizon has supposedly ordered over 10,000 of them from various vendors. Is the range that much reduced?

    Anyway, going through the prints I found that (unlike the above ground traffic signal controls) - they have no armor on the transmitters to prevent gunshot damage. Years ago now, I applied for an engineering job at "Eagle Signal" - a builder of traffic control devices - and their testing lab included shooting up the control boxes. With the price of the transmitters approaching $30K each, it seems like an omission.

    For 5g millimeter (also called ultra wide band)...yes the range is pretty limited currently. Around 1500ft. The low band covers vast areas. Mid band offer an inbetween of millimeter and low band. if i remember right...low band is still 4 times faster than 4g, mid band can hit up to 1gig and ultra is 3+ gig. Course real world might be different :)


    As for the shooting them....probably isnt to much of an issue these days. Especially the millimeter towers which are generally on top of buildings in already dense areas.

    I lived in Wyoming for the period 1977 to 2001. Once lost a $10 bet that we could find a traffic sign in Campbell county that hadn't been shot. It took hours and I still lost. Maybe they've gotten short on ammo these days?

    The Eagle Signal engineering manager told me it was equally hard to find an "unshot" signal control box in Chicago.......

    Ha! Will you look at that. Those look like TRD headers. Are those yours? :thumbsup:

    I haven't mentioned this yet here, but on the last adventure, all of the trucks with a 3.4L were quite similar to mine in that the engine appears to be mounted slightly lower on the passenger side when viewed using the radiator as the level comparison line.

    I'll have to give a good look at my 3.4 later. Nah, those headers belong to some rando in the daily thread. Just thought it was interesting to see the ding in the same space. I've just been keeping quiet about my growing parts hoard. My garage is chock full of Taco parts right now though, more so than past years.

    The flow isn't going to be an issue at all, I've successfully made much more HP than I intend to here with far smaller primary exhaust channels. I don't like the positioning or structural integrity of the CX manifolds, remember I'm going for reliability and to destroy the pathetic waste that is the TRD SC without spending more than one... not record breaking numbers though.

    Saw you went that route. Curious to watch that play out. I think I'd go Haltech. Lot more spendy though of course.

    Did you not get the PnP kit?

    Not that i would 100% do that either as I'd go to a MAP but still. Would help with a lot of stuff.

    Nope, the PnP kit is only MS2 (and now discontinued and deprecated) and the feature set was pathetic. The MS3 Gold Box I got is on par feature wise with a Haltech Elite 2500, so I'm not sacrificing anything. I would have liked a Haltech but more support exists locally and on the interwebs for 5VZ and MS setups. A lot of this is going to be my own shit anyway since the old MS2 kit relies on reusing most of the Toyota stuff and just straight up dropping knock support, dropping sequential injection for batch fire, and dropping stepper idle control. I wasn't willing to go backward from OEM functionality just for tunability so MS3 was the way to go. I wanted to add functionality and sacrifice none of the engine monitoring or safeties. I'm going to modern sensors, needed to add a better MAF and a MAP and temp sensor added. Need to add a wideband as well, so I'm making my own harness rather than waste time cutting the stocker to shreds

    And why even keep the MAF? Just run the MAF and IAT and be done with it. Simplifies a lot and is more accurate anyways. Seems silly to leave the MAF if you're building an whole new thing.
