I'm curious if anyone else has had the update to their ECM prescribed by this TSB. It's supposed to do a lot to help with the engine hesitation and shifting performance on 19-20. Mine is a 2020 purchased in March. I just got this done and my initial impressions are good.

I tested it on about a 25 mile stretch of interstate that is relatively flat. Going 75mph I normally shift up and down a dozen (maybe two dozen) times. It's an awkward speed for that particular stretch on my truck. After this update, I only experienced a downshift on the two actual hills on the road which I totally expected.

In terms of hesitation, I notice--what feels to me--like an increase in throttle response or sensitivity (most noticeable in first gear).

I will keep an eye on this for a while, but so far my initial impressions are really positive.

I thought there were no TSBs regarding drivebility on 2019s and up. Interesting.

Yes. Some folks have been very impressed on the 2019 side. I haven't heard much about the 04B80 to 04B81 comparisons yet. It should be pretty similar either way. I know that 04B14 felt darn close to 04B91 on a 2020.

I didn't think there would be, then I saw this on a Facebook group. My VIN matched so took it in today and they updated it for me (I have no way to verify, but it definitely feels different).

Yes. We got the Canadian TSB a couple weeks ago along with the software files to flash at home.

That US TSB was just posted on the nhtsa site a couple days ago. Like you see, it has been floating around on the Toyota side for about a month.

I think I remember hearing that they already did have an update for 2016-2018 to bring it "up to" what the 2019 and 2020 did, but obviously they needed to do more.

At this point, only the 2016 and 2017 MTs with TSB-0043-20. There is an expectation that the 2018 MTs and other ATs will get theirs.

Haven't noticed any problem with mine at that speed, it goes good. Only issue i once had was the odo being off reading fast. Dealer corrected it during my 1st oil change.

Hopefully getting mine done this morning. I’ll let you know the problems I’ve had and my impressions later today.

Seems like they do what they can at the factory. My 2020 came with 04B81, build date 08/2020.

OBD Fusion or the Carista app will tell you the ECU ID.

So the TSB is listing ECU ID and not VIN?

Yes. That is how the ECU TSBs work.

That first page shows affected VINs. I think they are 4-9th position.

Thanks for posting this OP. I went and had mine done yesterday and I do believe it helped. Have not tested it a lot yet but there are a couple of hills that normally cause hunting and I just used to use "S3". The truck seemed to hold on these hills now in drive at the acceleration needed without a lot of hunting. Think it had to naturally downshift once but stayed there until the peak.

Awesome! I'm interested to hear your continuing impressions. Mine are still positive. Shifting seems a lot better, though admittedly I haven't driven a ton since.

Just had this TSB done on my 19OR.... You can tell instantly that it runs better. It seems like it prevents the vehicle from downshifting too early, and lower end power feels MUCH nicer.

Feels like the torque converter stays locked more often instead of the odd "in between gears" that it would do before.

Anyone who has a 19/20 should go and ask about this TSB, took about 45min to do and has made a massive difference.

I have to drive from Idaho back to California this weekend so I'll update after that on how it performs.
