MAP only systems have poorer streetability mannerisms, they rely a ton on their alpha-n map because the pressure sensors are less accurate than a MAF. I can build a half ass alpha-n map, and will, but I don't want to rely on it for all of my out of boost behavior. I'm just going to go up to a Nissan Q45 MAF (its huge diameter and common, plus has been mapped for aftermarket computers so I don't have to build a sensitivity map). Plus this gives me redundancy. I can run with only a MAF, only a MAP (MAPs in my case cause I wanted one for barometric pressure too), or just in alpha-n. But all things running correctly I'd want to be in blended volumetric and MAF metering for best efficiency and behavior with alpha-n as a fallback failsafe.

Really good question though, I thought a fuckload about it, and if I was building a trailer or track queen I'd ditch the MAF since wide open would be more common and street driving wouldn't matter as much.

wow tiny. Insta boost. Not gonna have a lot past 3500rpmish Id say. Eh...maybe 4k. Which is enough.

    I don't mine the size overall, but T3? really? I'd do the same A/R but a T4

I’m thinking you’re overestimating the flow of this 3.4 haha. We’ve had no problems with T3 flange at 500hp on a 3.0 v6, which I intend to not even come close too. This thing will be done about 350hp. Not cause the flange is outflowed, but because the turbo is tiny. I’m not trying to stress the 5VZ, there’s no aftermarket for it and the main bearing design is meh at best. Just want some extra fun on top of the LT.

mmm. Idk. I mean I know the T3 will work but I think it's still too small for good flow.

But yeah, not like we are going for 450+ here. So ultimately probably be okay.

I also want to keep preassure down but flow high. So I'd like to go a bit bigger than you and t4 to flow better and have lower pressure.

I suppose we will find out. I think staying the same size turbo and going for t4 will be a net 0 improvement in flow. And I really don’t want to go bigger on the turbo, this one maps well to the 5VZ. I’m not going to let the boost come in too hard either, really going to be nannied hard by my ECU tune to keep it safe.

I mean I've seen dudes in the turbo thread go from t3 to t4 on the 3rz and like it a lot more haha t3 is pretty small.

But you'll have full boost by 2200 I bet easily haha

GFC is going to make just a topper. That's pretty cool.

With their soft shelf tent i bet that is probably the lightest most waterproof setup one could ask for.

But honestly I think the topper is a cool idea. Price tag Im sure will be ludicrous though

The camper has the rtt built in. This is just. Topper with the fully opening sides.

So you don't even need the rtt. Could just rock a gfc style topper.

And water proof as in you could run a topper that has full access on the sides. But still run any rtt you want. Like say yours. Or mine.

With their super light tent it's probably the most light weight combo, even lighter than their camper. Granted a lot smaller.

And be like any topper water proof wise likely. .

Still be just a cool topper. Hell be the only topper I'd want on my dd. Was gonna get a cover but that would be cool.

Again though probably way too expensive

The GFC is way more waterproof in general than my last canopy (not just from mud kicked up by the tires). The side access is also awesome, better than windoors can offer. If I were to just get a canopy for a truck, I would definitely look at a GFC canopy as an option.

That said, I don’t really get the point of having a GFC canopy plus the ultralight RTT. It can’t be that much lighter than a regular GFC, and you lose the benefit of having the removable floor panels and full standing room. I guess if you’re switching the tent between truck and SUV or something.

I see the benefit for people who don't camp regularly and want to leave the rtt off most of the time.

Price point will determine if it makes any sense over the regular GFC.
