You’ve obviously never done a hi lift winch recovery.

You’ll get 1-2 feet PER pull, before resetting and doing it all over again.

This would absolutely be a last resort.

Not to mention how physically demanding those pulls are for so little movement. I've done it before. It sucks ass.

Moving maxtrax in front of your wheels every couple feet is a million times easier.

I hope to step up my recovery game at next years Chi-town 4x4 open house free raffle and improve on my winnings.

Here’s a brief glimpse of hi lift winching

Start video at 7:30 for setup, 12:00 for winching

It's hard to spend a lot of money on things you try not to use! I'm easily over $1K if you count the winch. I'm glad I have everything, though. I guess it's not bad when you consider it against a good set of tires, or how expensive armor is.

    I don't consider this "roughing it." :)

Plus, it's not going to be cold.

Let me know if anyone is going to be in the area Friday, though. I'll probably be looking for something to do for a bit after it gets dark at 4pm.

Honestly, a hotel sounds cool. I'm just trying to save $ to pay off all of the crap I bought this year so I can buy more crap!:D

I do like this setup, though. It's like a baby RV.

There are a few campsites near the trails, and even some carved in along the Pipeline. I haven't decided where, yet. I'll probably look at the map later and think about it.
