What Chainsaw do you run?

I’m debating what to do here soon. Looking for a smaller/lighter saw. Just haven’t committed yet. Just called to see when the husky 550 ordered would show up. Not until the last week in November .... :-/ originally told 2nd week of November ... so I’ll be patient

 

I operate a small range of Stihl saws. MS460 Magnum, MS310, TC201 TCM, and a 150 TCE. I work as an arborist doing tree service, trimming and removals. All serve for specific roles.

 

Used my brothers husky 550xp mark2 today to clean up some trees that were laid down during a previous storm. What a saw! Sure was a beautiful day for such an event. The beverage was consumed after the work was done

 

We don’t heat with wood either. We give it to people in need once dry. We only cut what’s already down, cut, split and give.
Iv been eyeing up a smaller saw to limb/clean up... just haven’t come to grip that a battery power saw is all I need ....

My neighbor has one that takes 2 batteries. Pretty neat saw , but those batteries can get expensive.

 

Sounds a bit heavy if requiring 2 battery’s ?? Guess I have to do some research and maybe head out to a hardware store and do a feeler

 

To do limbing I’d probably only need a 14” but this one looks like a very capable saw... ty for sharing

 

Its actually pretty light. She's about 60 yo. She cuts up limbs and such , but calls me when she needs one up high cut.

 

Sounds like a great Xmas gift to myself ;-) brother joe runs dewalt tools and have many bigger battery’s... I may just look into there 20v saw “tool” only and see .

 

She has the DeWalt. It looks cool as hell. I considered one , but went with a gas Stihl. Probably cost near a 100 bucks for new batteries.

 

I’ll second a battery powered chainsaw.

I use it for cleanup around my wooded lot and to cut wood for the fire pit.
My little Stihl took a dump a couple of years ago and I finally got around to buying another one this year. I bought a Makita because my drills are Makita and all the batteries are interchangeable. It uses two 18V batteries.

I’m glad I had it the other day during a big wind storm. Cutting all of this used about 1/2 of a charge. I love this thing.
No gas. No two stoke oil. No carburetor. It sure makes life easier.

 

Yeah. They are convenient

 

I agree with the ease of battery power BUT I love smelling like 2 stroke exhaust! I love mixing gas and oil ! Haha I have to adjust to these new battery operated machines soon i suppose ;-)

Maybe it’s just a manly thing ... nothing like coming inside after using a 2 stroke machine and the wife says... you stink! Yes I do!

 

Ran a couple Stihl's today doing some minor tree work. MS261 for the main work and MS210 for the limbing.

 

I looked into the new version of the 261 and compared it with the husky 550 xp mark2. Both the same price but went with the husky .... brother joes 550 is probably the best saw Iv ran. Great 50cc saw
