Does anyone have the plug and play Hewitt bypass they are willing to sell? Since everyone is getting Toyota to fix, I didn't know who might have one unused.

I have finally gotten the dreaded p2442 code. I brought my Taco back to life after an accident, and now it has a rebuilt title..... and because of this, toyota is refusing to honor the "Warranty Extension" due to title history. They claim they will honor recalls, but not warranties. So I am on the fence about replacing parts out of pocket, or using the plug and play bypass.

If anyone has a suggestion on talking to a dealer, to get them to honor this would be greatly appreciated. I had called the national number, who are the ones that said they wont honor the warranty extension due to the title.

    Thanks guys.

Had the service campaign completed today. For those interested, part numbers that were replaced:

Just had mine done 2 days ago. Wonder how long these parts will last. I only had 56K on my truck.

Of the three p/n’s, I think the only one of any significance is the Valve Assembly Kit 04008-34131. The other two are the foam element and the plastic cover. As best I can figure, Toyota finally made the reed valves available separate from the entire assembly (which someone here had suggested on the first or second page). I looked online and it’s available for around $130 from McGeorge, so not terrible.

My truck had 120k when I got the code.

Has anybody tried the "Valve Assembly Kit 04008-34131" repair yet? I think cleaning the manifold wouldn't be to bad. Although i am worried about breaking a screw off were the valves attach. I am going to assume they use a lock tight, so I would think you could heat the screw up prior to removing them.

New to the forums and thanks OP for an amazing "how to" guide. I just completed replacing the valve assembly. 2012 Tacoma v6 PreRunner 141k miles, throwing the 2443/2445 codes.

Not a technically complicated job but certainly made difficult by the lack of operating space in the engine well. Fully removing the air filter assembly and the secondary pump assembly certainly helps create space. But the space is still tight, especially removing the 10mm bolts at the rear exhaust line, and the 12mm bolt under the assembly.
Had no issues with bolts or nuts stripping or not coming off. Did not have to apply any heat.
And finally, removing the assembly itself and reinstalling the new one can be a bear - the top bolts and rear exhaust line bolts oppose each other and are difficult to get in. Removing and reinstalling can be difficult, and you'll have to really manhandle the exhaust line to install the unit. Be careful not to damage the top bolt threads. It's difficult but not impossible.
Thanks again OP for a great guide.
