Agreed with the heat DeWayne. Saturday is forecasted to be in the 70s. We are cutting wood for the cabin. Two standing dead ash trees coming down and split up. Will be a tiring but good day. Eggs, bacon, toast, coffee will fuel us up for the chores. Where's my alieve bottle?

If some of y’all don’t know I took my son Monday afternoon and he shot at two different deer and missed them both with my muzzle loader. He’s 8 years old and that’s the first two times he’s ever shot it. He said “dad, I don’t get it I can shoot better than that”. I said I know you can son.

Today we went to where I killed the one this morning, I set this box beside the feeder at 85 yards and told him if he can hit the paper he can kill a deer. He shot. I said go get the box. He came back with a huge grin, I said I knew you could do it, you proved to me you can shoot the gun on Monday I just wanted you to see it.

We hunted there until dark, didn’t see anything. He and I are going back Saturday morning.

Go ahead and share. The buck I got last year ended up no more than 5 yards from where he was standing. Same bullet, but no where near the angle, and much further away. That was my first copper experience. Before that, I never had one go far. Then this.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I've shot a lot of deer and I've lost a 3 or 4 through the years. Sometimes they just don't bleed like they should and others gush. I shot a buck at the last minute of daylight and had no hair, no flesh, no blood...just running tracks in the snow. Let him sit overnight and tracked him to his bed where he died. Not a speck of blood. Rolled him over and he gushed like geyser. So strange.

Very true DeWayne. My Son was taught by both myself and his Grand Father. Actually shot his first buck with Pap beside him. A six point, well placed shot right on the money. Logan said later on that Dad got a little emotional after the kill. Now this was 17 years ago. Anyhow, one thing passed down to Logan that impresses me is the appreciation of the animal after the kill. We all take a moment, admiring the beauty of the creature, giving thanks for the blessing. Then it's time to get to work! Yeah I'm a cornball I know....
