Was wanting to get a muffler for my 2006 Tacoma to give it a little more aggressive sound. I did some research and many people said that the Aero Turbine 2525 is the best sounding. What is y’all’s opinion?

By muffler, do you mean cat-back or from the y-pipe? Very important.

I don't know about the best, but the bosal makes the TRD muffler and with Doug thorley headers it sounds pretty good without being loud or drowning on the highway or too aggressive around town being obnoxious, under heavy load wide open throttle you get some really cool cracks and rattles out of it, but then it's tame the rest of the time with just a low basic grumble that isn't intrusive.

That said, it's next to impossible to get an idea of any kind of exhaust tone resonance and even feel from text on the internet, even videos are only slightly better but they still leave much to be desired. As well as exhaust sound preference is really subjective.

Agreed. TRD nailed it with their cat-back, and Borla is a close second. The rest are obnoxious and drone-filled IMHO.

Threw a borla pro street xs muffler on my otherwise stock exhaust. Sounds great. Zero drone. Very close in sound to the trd, mellow under normal driving and nice roar when you open it up.

Do you know who actually makes the TRD one? Pretty sure it’s just rebranded and I’ll need to replace my stock muffler soon. Don’t wanna pay OEM or TRD prices

I think it’s one of those things you gotta decide for yourself. My truck came with a borla and I couldn’t wait to get that off. It’s just personal opinion.

TRD or Borla otherwise don't bother. Its hard to make a V6 sound good throught the exhaust IMO

I don't. Toyota Racing Development makes more than enough money to spend on R&D to manufacture their own cat-back exhaust variants, but I wouldn't be surprised if they outsourced to a MBRP or Gibson at the end of the day. Would be interesting to find out the answer to this for sure.

They make the money just that way. Selling other people’s stuff for 2x after slapping 3 letters on

Good point, but there's also the "TRD" markup in the MSRP though. They get that $$$$ one way or another.

Certainly agreed on Toyota, mostly agreed on others.

But a Nissan Z isn't bad, or a GM Vortec.

But they are very different engines

I thought i read some were that the TRD exhaust was made by corsa or borla . Not sure. Once my stock muffler finally rusts out then im going to upgrade. Personally on the East coast ive never seen an aftermarket exhaust last longer than the stock original.

Magnaflow with Vibrant resonators. Im running those and some people think i did a V8 swap. Nice smooth low rumble tone without that high raspy rattle can sound at WOT.
