I'll have to keep an eye out for that one! I hope to do better than MSRP!

I can never figure out how this happens but you see it all the time. I mean even with a GMC transmission I've never had even close to that happen. I don't get it.

That's like a few thousand pixels right there, height of technology!

Anyone else get the MA DPH phone call last night?

It showed up as spam risk for me and kept calling back immediately when I rejected it. On the third call, I answered ready to yell at someone and it was their recording of information I already knew. Very irritating. I blocked the number.

What's this, about the Governors new mask mandate? That's a bunch of bullshit. You do a press release and that should be it.

I have theories. I know the launch, and there are two things that I think may have happened:

    1. Bald ass tires, I know the area, people around here drive a car until it croaks before they do maintenance on it. We're south enough of the rain snow line that (a) people think they don't need to do jack crap in the winters and keep driving as normal (which is bad to begin with), and (b) the roads are shot because unlike in Maine where people assume they need to rebuild the roads all the time, we assume because we're far enough south, we don't need to rebuild the roads! So the salt and ice kill roads and we don't fix them. .... All that to say, bald tires.

    2. Vehicle was way under-rated for the boat. I see people moving giant fishing boats with mid size trucks (not a V8 dakota) down there all the time. "But it's just across town" so it's fine.

Chances are they had a prius with bald tires trying to move the Titanic. (Realistically looks more like a small SUV/Crossover and a normal size sun boat, so at it's limit anyway though).

The times i’ve seen it on Youtube, it looks like they backed too far in and the back end floated either because the boat was tied to the trailer and lifted the back end or they went really far in and the back of the vehicle floated.

I got the text too, that I didn't care about. The phone call that kept calling me back repeatedly didn't make me happy, though!

I wonder why I got the call and no one else seemed to--no one I've talked to at work got it and my girlfriend didn't get it.

I had the trail gear front on my first gen and though it was pretty awesome. For the money, at least at the time, you really couldn't beat it. I'm sure they've gone up since, but i bet it's still a good deal vs. other options.

Do it over a storm drain...

I'm kidding don't do that. I just got rid of like 15 gallons of coolant from doing the rad on my FJ, and when i did the Landcruiser earlier this year. Town had one of those hazardous waste days. Said 25# max per house, but they didn't say a thing when I popped the hatch on my LC and the cargo area was just about full of old oil I've been too lazy to take to vatozone, used brake fluid, coolant, and old paint cans.

No, I wouldn't do that, haha. It won't be too bad to do in my driveway. The plug is just in a weird spot so there's going to be coolant spilled, it's just inevitable when it's running down the side of the engine. My plan would be to lay down cardboard and use a big tub to catch as much as I can. Anything I miss with the tub will soak into the cardboard rather than soak into the ground.

To get rid of it? Just take it to Autozone or Advanced Auto, I'm pretty certain they'll take that as regular used oil.

Wait until hazardous waste day? Most towns have them, usually 2x a year.

I think tractor supply sells those big oil absorbent pads. That'll work better than cardboard.

Marine supply stores will sell them too, for oil extraction with inboard boats. I think I still have a few from when I owned an inboard, but no idea where they are.

I personally just use a catch bin, and whatever drips out drips out. My driveway is all covered in oil stains, some spray paint from sliders and other armor, etc... I'm just feeding the hydrocarbons back to the asphalt since asphalt is just a byproduct of hydrocarbon production anyways. It's the circle of life.
