Just checked the NHTSA website and my 2/19 built Tacoma is now on the "recall, no remedy" list.

"Recall No Remedy" is Toyota Corporate-Speak for "It needs a new impeller but we're dick deep in bad impellers now."

In other words, you'll get the same fix we all just did. Just won't happen now.

No problem with my 2018. Mine was originally not on the list, then they expanded the list leading me to believe that Toyota is trying to be safe rather than sorry and my fuel pump is just fine. I’ll wait til I get the second letter before I get it replaced.

The first 2020 tacoma I bought mid september struggled to start (misfired and cranked longer than it should) the following morning after bringing it home from the dealership with 8 miles on it...that afternoon it cranked and starter timed out didnt start. After 'priming' it a couple times it did start, brought it back to the dealership and undid the sale. At the time there was no open recall for the 2020, but having already set up the Toyota app I was watching it move around the lot still getting notifications fo opening doors, hood, etc. and eventually the miles til empty went from 300 to 0 indicting they pulled the tank. Guarantee it was fuel pump. I got put on list for incoming 2021 was gonna be sometime this month before the 2021 's arrived. another 2020 came in in the meantime so I bought that one no problems with number 2...

    Working on it ...
I don’t know, it just seems people really show no love to the third GEN Tacoma. For whatever it’s worth I’ve had them all even before there they started to number the “GENs”. Bought my first one back in 1988. All of my trucks have been excellent high mileage work horses. They aren’t show vehicles per say, but do for the most part try to keep them clean and they are pretty meticulously maintained.
I would say none of them have been 100% hands-down slap me on the back perfect as they each had their little “thing” with them. But, they were close enough that kept me coming back for another Toyota pick up or Tacoma as they are now known - for 32 years. I am pretty sure each of them had some sort of recall on them over the years. But so far my current truck is “recalless” to date, but TBD I guess.

As for my current third GEN model, it is by far and away the nicest riding one of them all. Haven’t had a single issue with it but I am also only sniffing at 18,000 miles so far. It has been a good truck and has gone everywhere I have asked to go and has hauled all I have asked it to haul. Hence, to date I have to throw the BS flag on all the poop being flung on the 3rd GENs.

    IMHO ...

Thank you for the original posting Blackfoot. I just rechecked my VIN on Toyota’s “Lookup Safety Recalls and Service Campains” site and my truck is now included (I also received no letter from Toyota). I’ll make the appointment to have the repairs made. There is a lot of childishness on Tacoma World but every once in a while there comes along a useful piece of information.

I also only use premium (with Seafoam, MMO, and Star Tron on occasion) and have noticed no problems. The local dealerships claim the parts are not available yet.

Hey everyone! I'm scheduled for my pump replacement in a few weeks and I figure this is a good opportunity to replace my Sport fuel tank straps with the ones from a TRD Offroad with bolt holes for a future skid plate install.

Anyone know which two straps I would need to order?

Are you aware the skid plate is made out of plastic?

Wasn't aware of that! But I would still need those fuel tank straps for an aftermarket one right?

I believe the aftermarket skid plates use their own attachment brackets and points.
