So I've been looking for a intermittent wiper switch for a while however I didn't want to lose the mist function of my stock wiper switch. I bought a Camry switch (turns out it was the wrong generation) but it didn't fit without modifying the Tacoma switch holder/bracket thingy around the steering column and I didn't feel like cutting that up. I then stumbled across an IS300 headlight and wiper switch set listed as fitting a 2001-2005 for $21 on ebay and bought it even though I didn't have any plans for the headlight switch. Yet (more on that later). Well, they fit!
    upload_2020-11-1_13-18-5.jpg

They are more angled than the stock stalks but I'll get used to it. Below is IS300 headlight on the left and stock wiper on the right. You can see how much more angled the IS300 stalk is compared to the relatively flat Tacoma stalk.
    upload_2020-11-1_13-21-3.jpg

Now I have intermittent AND the mist function.
    upload_2020-11-1_13-19-11.jpg

I noticed that the headlight stalk had the AUTO function so that got me thinking. I want that too! @Plkyone has already installed the kit I want to hook up to the IS300 stalk to make it function like factory. DEI 545T. The kit comes with a toggle switch to make it work but shouldn't be hard to wire it to the headlight stalk instead. That's the next project!

huh... I didn’t realize there was an option without a tachometer, for the Tacoma’s. Dash reminds me of my 85 T4R. Is that just the 5 lugs that has no tachometer?

Sadly, there's no tach, even though it's a manual trans. Always thought that was lame. I've bought 2 clusters so far trying to swap it and both were supposed to be 4cyl and they turned out to be 6cyl so the tach doesn't read the correct rpm.

The tach was part of a convenience package and because my wife bought practically the cheapest one she could find on the lot 20 years ago, there's no tach.

Who needs one:thumbsup: I pretty much never look at my tachometer anyways, maybe that’s just because of the training from the 4Runner

It started off I wanted one just because it was something to add. Now it's just pissing me off that I am having bad luck getting one that works correctly that I can't let it beat me!

    I hear you.
I have one in my taco and it is nice so I don’t blame you. I use it mostly if I’m trying to race Off the line and shift right at the red line. Keep an eye on local self pull junk yards

sadly I've only seen 2 tacomas in the past couple years at the local yards. I have alerts set up and everything and we just never get any. I bought the first cluster from car-part and was a good experience, other than it not working correctly. Second one came from ebay and thought it was the one. I'll get there eventually!

It’s completely bolt on the only thing different I did was my use of the up down buttons for power windows. You can find a steeering identical without the buttons. I’m not sure of the year range but it’s from the last generation celica you may also find similar on the matrix. The airbag is completely functional, the airbag is in two parts the actual bag and then the charge module that bolts in the back. I just used my original Tacoma charge module in the celica airbag!

The charge module is held in by the 4 bolts you can swap them out to be 100% sure your system is correct

that's definitely a possibility! I'd like to try and avoid something like that and make it work like it's supposed to without additional electronics but the wife is already on me for buying 2 clusters (got a refund for the first one so technically I've only paid for one) and it still doesn't work!
