The 2021 Toyota Hilux is impressive, makes the Tacoma look like a Camry. :(

Prefer the looks of the Tacoma but the diesel drivetrain out of the Hilux would be nice. Never going to happen in the US or Canada though.

I actually differ from OP on the “taco looks like Camry”.

I know very well the hilux and for me it always seemed car like on the inside.

I would say the opposite. Taco looks more like a truck and hilux looks more like a car.

    both are good.

I wish the taco had tons of low end torque but not.......

Some of you guys aren’t getting the point here. Look beneath the sheet metal. Under the Hilux skin everything is superior than the Tacoma. Better stronger axles/drivetrain, more payload capacity, can tow more, crazy amount of torque, metal bed, fuel economy is far superior. Since it’s a diesel turbo that means it’s high running potential for even more power.

Hilux are extremely well made.. in my motherland we have 2.7 and 4.0 options.. we don’t have the diesel option..

I wound tend to think that they are similar in terms of frame, suspension parts, axels.. but don’t know specifics..

I drove a '17 Hilux in the UK. Not real impressive. Didint seem as truck like as a Tacoma. More refined and less rugged.

Is that the new TNGA-F hilux? Or is that just a refresh of the current gen?

If that's the new Hilux, I suspect the new Tacoma will look like that except with more American style front end and maybe more aggressive styling in general.

The hilux, Colorado and Ranger all seem to cater to Aussy, Arab and South African tastes.

    What's your point...
You. Can't. Have. It. Toyota (or anyone else) will never offer something like this in North America.
Lastly, Toyota and many others will eventually offer a hybrid that will outperform every spec from the Hilux.

No no. The gearbox was brilliant but the truck also seemed narrower inside also.

With enough money you can have a Hilux or any vehicle.

It was too refined like designed for fussy Europeans and not as rugged for Americans.
