You can also reuse old desiccant packs from things you buy by heating them up to dry them out.

I use many desiccant packs that can be recharged. 2-3 hours in the oven at 250 usually does the trick.

I use desiccant in my safes, but not in my ammo. I buy ammo in bulk and leave it sealed until needed, stored in humidity/temperature controlled storage. The ready ammo is stored in same conditions. Carry ammo is changed out every six months, and the old stuff is thrown in the range bins. I spent my naval career in weapons. Ammo lasts for a very long time if stored in cool dry places. Hell, I'm still shooting shotgun shells and rifle rounds from my 25 years ago.

Your pins are held in place by the hammer and trigger springs, hence the slots on the pins themselves. These pins have a tendency to "walk" or push out. There are several aftermarket pins called anti-walk or anti-rotation pins designed to prevent this from happening. My personal favorites are the KNS Precision pins. A bit pricy but there are many other versions and manufactures much cheaper. https://www.knsprecisioninc.com/product/gen-st-build-a-kit/

Army still was using .50 BMG ammo with headstamps from the 1940s in Iraq over the last decade.

I shot 60mm mortar rounds from the 70s that were sweating propellant in Afghanistan in 2012. :anonymous:

I have some shotgun shells I inherited that have to be at least 30 years old. Its evident that they weren't stored under ideal conditions but they still shoot fine. I wouldn't hunt with them but it's good for the range.

I’ve got a job box that holds my 7.62x39 and 9mm bulk. I’ve got a couple of surplus ammo crates for 7.62x54R (mostly WWII and Cold War surplus). 7.62x51 and 5.56 are in .50 cal ammo cans. Those are the only calibers I’m light on.
