    Some really cool shit
I'm not sure I'll be that magnanimous. Too many things the landlord has refused to do. Already we have spent over 400 bucks to make the place more livable. The closets were a mess. My wife has painted almost all of them so far. We bought the paint. She provided the labor. There is a plastic shed out back. Decent size. But it was laid right on the ground, no pad. Floor was deteriorating. So, off to Home Depot for some marine grade plywood, and metal brackets to secure the entire thing. Looks great, will hold weight nicely. My time, labor, and over $150 for materials. And interior fence is all but on the ground but for a ragged bush holding it up. Nothing going to be done about that. The garage is a wiring nightmare. The two garage door openers are powered by about 50 feet of extension cords. All wound around rafters. It's insane, and no doubt a fire hazard. I'll tackle that soon. They are going to spend 500 bucks on landscaping, so thats nice. The back yard is a freaking jungle of overgrown trees, and shrubs. But, we accepted the place to rent. We were pressured to vacate our home for staging prior to sale. We had looked at many places. This house was still occupied when we looked at it. You don't see a lot of flaws when other peoples shit is in the way. And we were asked to take off our shoes when entering so when it came time to walk around the back yard, we didn't. Shoes were at the front door. From the windows it looked alright. Just needed a place to sit and have a beer, and a place for the dogs to run. The garage was so full of stuff from current renters staging to move that you couldn't see squat. The landlord lives in New York. Brother in law is out point of contact. He's a decent enough guy. So much stuff left behind by previous renter, AND, previous owner. My landlord has only owned the house just over a year. I suspect this is their first foray into rental property. I'm sure they think we're nightmare renters. But, I told the POC that we will leave this house in better condition than we found it by our efforts. Don't know if he passed that on to the owner. Guess I don't care, at this point.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
I was dealing with parts of that as well... Ants, doors not working, windows are shit, etc. Maybe not to you extreme. I'm surprised he said he won't penalize us for moving 2 months early.

Moving to Sac. Company is opening a new office there and I don’t want to deal with the commute from the Bay Area. 4Runner has an empty tank and I haven’t used any of my 100 mile tows with AAA so I figure now is as good a time as any.

    Me, wheeling in CA? Ha

Usually me too though. But seeing as it’s been a pretty off year for me and my membership with AAA is about to renew, I figure it’s a good excuse to at least get a little of what I’m paying for

Yep. Here's a good AAA story. I have AAA Premium and have for years.

Three years ago after I broke my lower link then my rear yoke on Claw Hammer we got my rig back to Boone Rd. A lot of you know that part of the story.

It's 271 miles from there to my house. I thought about driving home in 4wd but that lower link repair probably wouldn't hold. I decided to hang my head and call AAA. They show up and get my rig on the flatbed. The guy asks me where I'm going and I tell him 200 miles. He puts it in drive and we head off.

That 200 miles put us 7 miles from Lone Pine. So, where sitting on the side of 395 North and he asks me if I want him to drive to Bishop. I ask what the additional tow fee would be and laugh, I mean politely decline. He unloads my rig and I get back on the phone with AAA. Apparently I'm not the first guy to have the genius idea to use the 200 mile then 100 mile. It's called piggy backing and it's against AAA rules. Fuck.

I ask the lady on the phone about any loopholes. I ask really nice after explaining where I am and how close I am to home. She asks me if I'm married. Yep. She knew that though because my wife and I are on the same plan. She asked me to call my wife and have her call AAA and report my location. Turns out even though we are on the same plan each person has a different card number. Thanks AAA lady.

I call the wife and she calls AAA. They send out another flatbed and I'm home two hours later. I called AAA back the next day and asked if they had a record of who I spoke with. They did. I asked to be transferred to that person. I was. I thanked her and asked if I could speak to her boss. I let her know it was to praise her and told her I wouldn't say a word about the loophole she let me in on.

When he got on the line I informed him how helpful she was, how much she knew about AAA procedure and that he should think about fast tracking her to a higher level. How her level of professionalism and courtesy truly set her apart from any other AAA employees I'd dealt with. By the time I was done I'm pretty sure he got the point. lol

Ya I used AAA to tow my Taco back from sparks when I purchased it. Wife was too scared to follow me back home from Nevada to California during icy winter down i-80 and hwy 20. Called AAA and told them I needed a tow. Didn't mention I had just purchased the truck. Driver picked my truck up a little after 9pm and dropped it off in my driveway at about 11pm. Tipped him $80 for the late night tow. And the kids and happy wife (happy life) all drove home together.

Wooohoooo Friday and have the weekend off finally! Time to install headlights and clean up this messy bench, along with an IPA. Some garage love time.

Nice. You lucky bastard. Since I added the plano case to my topper rack, and the roto-paks, no chance of me getting into a standard garage.
