The 2021 Toyota Hilux is impressive, makes the Tacoma look like a Camry. :(

Not necessarily. But the difference is you could use steel wool to remove surface rust!

Depends on the 10 miles. 10 miles on a mountain bike? Definitely. 10 miles on a road bike/gravel bike? Maybe, depending on how hilly the terrain is.

Honda will probably offer a hybrid Ridgeline and they will sell.

Basically, manufacturers don't want to invest money into developing their engines to meet EPA standards here, particularly when it comes to diesel. Diesel isn't as popular in the US, so the cost of development may not be worth it.

Lol depending on design, a hybrid can actually have less parts, not "more things to break."

By the time they went thru all that along with certifications it would push the cost of a Tacoma to 50K.

Yep. The Colorado charges a premium for it, but they also developed it from Thailand and basically cornered the market for it at first, so the cost for development was worth it for them. I'd drive a diesel if they can be proven to be reliable. But that whole DEF system has me skeptical.

I wouldn't trust it either, can't imagine they sell too well.

They sell pretty good. The only consistent issue I've heard is the DEF system. But even that is pretty good as long as you don't let the truck sit for extended periods of time without running it. Basically the DEF fluid crystalizes and clogs up the injector, which then sends you into limp mode until you get it fixed. All of which is mandated by the EPA.

l read that GM was doing away with the Diesel Colorado for the next Generation, would assume they probably just don't sell enough to justify it. Don't think you would ever see a diesel Tacoma, the price would be too high and the sales would be minimal.

My understanding is they are doing away with the 2.8L and bringing the 3.0L from the Silverado. But that's all rumor.

You can do a diesel conversion, but those are expensive. People that do them love them, but also don't have to deal with the DEF system. I'd love to see more diesels here. I'm sure Toyota will change their minds at some point. After all, Jeep now has a diesel as well.

Maybe you are right but dont think it makes sense in a Tacoma, guessing you would see a hybrid Tacoma instead of a diesel.

I fully expect that before a diesel.

    The should do a diesel-hybrid.

Then you could roll coal and save the planet. It’s a win/win

    Lol, that would be intense.

I will say, though, I changed my mind about hybrids after actually trying one. Yes, the 1.8L engine was weak, but I got 47 MPG consistently (3 fill-ups) so I was able to look past that pretty easily.

In all honesty, a diesel hybrid would give you incredible range of it a had a decent size tank.

Obviously everything can be damaged if determined enough. Everything. Look at the location of the damage. It looks like somebody had their rental Tacoma, was building a fence of something with the tailgate down and lumber laying flat, moved the truck, when being reversed a piece of lumber hit a wall or something and the tip of the board punched through the wheel well. The wheel well is thinner than the floor of the bed, its not really meant for load bearing or taking hits on the vertical surface. That would have completely ripped through a steel wheel well without a doubt. First think I look at on used trucks is to see if the wheel wells are dented/damaged. Just for comparison, I've stood on the wheel wells when loading a Silverado at work and it dented when I stepped up on it (about 210lbs). I could jump up and down on the top o our wheel wells. I'm still not convinced that steel is better. :notsure:

Yeah, there was no doubt in my mind that it had to be some sort of impact. And I agree, at minimum that would have probably dented a steel wheel well. But, as I said, this is the first damage I've ever seen to one of these beds.
