Assumptions in any relationships are the quickest way to end or ruin a relationship of any kind.

Communication is key; if he wants to spend time with you, he should say it via text or phone, and plan to set a time and date.

I had that trouble in past relationships and have done well to communicate even the smallest things.

Unfortunately, it's not always reciprocated.

At least my jokes aren't expired like your LT is.

 

My dad is a die hard narcissist who is always unavailable and always the victim. My entire life has been this way.

When he does want to make plans he'll dangle them like a carrot and say we should go wheeling or to the range for a Saturday of fun, only to cancel Saturday morning. Every damn time.

 

At least I know how to start projects

After years of threatening to leave him and begging him to go to marriage counseling my mom left him and he acts surprised

 

Then he goes to my aunt and uncles and tells them how sorry he is for missing out on so much of my childhood. They tell me this.

I tell them if he's sorry he can say it to my face, otherwise he's just fishing for attention

 

The SO and I had that problem a lot.

It got better after we split up and decided to be good friends, but in the relationship, there were too many assumptions from both sides.

It's funny what they say about a break up or something; we all made someone better for someone else..
