would you change oil mid "roadtrip"?

i thought i would be able to hit 5000 miles prior to my roadtrip. i'm not. i have a filter ready, oil, washers..

i am gonna leave for a 2400 mile drive. i got crazy people with guns staying at my house, should any of you get any ideas

i figured. i should need new engine juice by tuscon. stop by a jiffy lube? or just dump my oil prematurely before i leave?

what would you do? no real biggie waiting till i get to my destination until i change it i'm sure. i'll make sure i'm topped off. but that "maint req" light will annoy me. i know me.

 

amsoil 0-30 once a year or 35,000 miles.....why dont anyone listen to me

 

If your running syn, no prob going to 7k before changing it. IF your worried, quick change before the trip for peace of mind. Have fun rockin the yota on the road

i take my truck into some really dusty stuff. all my neighbors are ranchers. even if the oil stays, "oily?", it has got to pick up dust and sand. i would freak out at an annual change.

but WOW!

 

I would go for it. I have changed mine on the road more than once. Last time was taking a buddy of mine from Ft. Gordon Ga. to Va. (P.S. I'm in Florida) with an oil change needed when I left. But I don't have one of those maint lights to bother me.

 

been doing it for years.....i wouldnt hesitate running it two years but i wont......amsoil 0-30 for the win.....the absolute fracking win!!!!!!!
running through dusty stuff shouldnt get past the secondary....that is if you still have that in there

 

Just change it early. I wouldn't want to even think about changing it on the road. Way to much hassle. You will only lose a few bucks, worth it in my opinion.

 

I agree with the fact that synthetics can go once a year or 12-15k, but 35k may be pushing it.

I'd just change it before so you don't have to bother doing it along the trip.

 

You can reset the Maint Req'd light so it won't drive you nuts during your trip. Either change it early or change it when you get there, no big deal. If it were my truck, I'd change it a couple days before I left. I'm assuming this is a mostly highway trip so if you run 1,000 miles over on an oil change once in the truck's life it's not going to kill it.

 

How much per Quart? you got my attention now!!!!

 

10 bucks.......a mann filter which goes 7500 miles is cheap.....or 6 months change that

 

I only drive about 6500 per year, This will play right into my annual oil change theory.

 

I'd just change it before I left.

 

Best oil period. I use it religiously.

 

I don't care if the oil is good or not. I would NEVER buy a used vehicle from someone that could only show 1 oil change a year. It would be perceived as neglect.

Change the oil before you go. You've done enough break-in already. After the break-in period there is absolutely zero harm changing oil too often.
