shit any v8 in a small truck like a taco would be legit! by summertime i should be starting a 350sb swap with a turbo 350 tranny into my 01 prerunner... the thing will haul ass.

to be realistic, the 5.3 V8 is available in the Colorado, which if i'm not crazy is a slightly smaller truck than a 2nd gen Taco, and we all know neither of these trucks are intended for towing anything that really requires the power of a V8. So, obviously, the only real reason for a V8 Colorado is well . . . for the hell of it, right (The Ford Raptor exists for a similar reason)? I say, why not put an even better V8 in an even better truck? I demand a new trim level called "Taco Supreme" this would give you the 5.7 i-Force V8 currently available in the Tundra, along with suspension similar to that of the Ford Raptor only, of course, BETTER. Think about it, mid-long travel 2nd gen with a 5.7? I'm in!

a modern chevy 5.7 in a taco would probably get better mpgs than the 4.0

    Im getting there......
I love my v6 tacoma and it had plenty of power to tow my trailers and such.....
ive towed a offroad jeep nearly 2000miles with it and it was just fine....

personally id rather have alot of more useful....and cheaper features added to the tacoma before a semi-unbenificial v8

the 5.7 with a blower is a holy combonation and should be praised.
my fathers 2010 tundra has this combination and is pushing 504hp at the crank. just imagine the tacoma with 504hp. i couldnt. but the tundra is mine all mine. in two years exactly i will be saying goodbye to the taco :( and hello to mi padres tundra:D

I'll stick with gasoline. V8 juice makes me sick. I can't imagine what it would do to my truck!

i change my vote. no v8 for me but i would like a 4cyl turbo diesel option with a butt load of torque! 300ft lbs sounds about right.

No V8 in a Tacoma for me. It defeats a lot the purpose in my mind. There are other trucks for that, just not in a Tacoma.
