I keep hearing about e-lockers, which I thought was a differential locker. I have a rear differential lock, what’s the difference? Am I still TRD Off-road certified? Or should i go back to the mall?

E-Locker = Electronically Actuated Locking Differential

There are different ways to achieve the “Locking” of a Differential.
Such as: Electrical, Mechanical, or Air

    Yes.
I’m going to guess the button says “RR Diff Lock”?

    Canada Eh!
E-locker (electronically actuated locker) is a type of selectable differential locker There are also air actuated lockers (ARB brand) and mechanically actuated. They all achieve the same end result. Minor pros and cons for each type regarding durability, complexity etc.

E-locker is what comes stock on TRD off-road tacomas.

If this was a troll post...well congrats you got me..

I never off-road and rarely use the locker except to get out of sand when parking at the beach. I still have the warning sticker on the door lol.

here’s a serious question for you:

why are these lil trucks called prerunners? I thought prerunners are trucks that do a lap before an off-road race, like a safety car does in European GT races. Isn’t a prerunner like pic below?

edit: when I see a “prerunner” with a lawnmower in the back ;(
