Suspension Advice?

I know this is a very popular topic but I need your guys help! For context, its my daily driver and I’m mostly concerned about maintaining reliability. This is my first truck and this will be my first time leveling/lifting a truck, so I’m a little new to this. My main goal is to level the truck out and maybe even do a slight lift (0.5?), mostly for aesthetic purpose and to fit a slightly larger tire. I’ve been researching the forums to try and learn more about the topic. I would like to avoid any spacers/blocks and I’ve read a lot of good things about the 5100’s. Do I only purchase front? Front and rear? Cons? Also heard some things about a bump stop and it negatively impacting the suspension, I honestly don’t know what that means. I apologize I’m very ignorant, ANY advice and/or recommendations you have would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

 

Leaving it stock would be your safest and most economical and reliable option.

 

Well that’s a little obvious, but I would like to level/lift the truck without it negatively impacting too much

 

You can fit larger tires without lifting. The lift you plan to do isn't going to get you the ability to fit larger tires.

That being said I am running 6112's in the front set for a half inch lift and 5160's it back with no lift. Runs great.

 

Well I’d also like to get it higher off the ground to give it a more aggressive look. I may be able to go 1 tire size up without rubbing, I’m trying to change the look and stance of the truck.

 

You can fit 265/75r16 with or without the lift you want.

I’m running 265/65/17 right now on stock height, max is 265/70/17. The purpose of the lift isn’t only for larger tires like I said, I want to level/lift the truck as well as get some beefier tires underneath it.

Search for the various 2/1 lift options - 2" front, 1" rear. I think Eibach makes probably the best quality entry priced modest lift. Alternately you can put a 1/2" spacer on the front to level the truck if all you want is a level look.

 

Trying to avoid spacers if I can, I’ve heard lots of negative things about them. But I will definitely take a look at Eibach, thanks for the input!

 

If I were you and don’t off road but really wanna achieve level without spacers I’d just go 5100s front and back relatively cheap but still an upgrade and adjustable

 

Anything you change from your factory setup will have a ripple affect. ANYTHING!

The first thing I did was to add a topper, truck felt sluggish. I installed an ARB front bumper, front end sagged. I swapped to 265 70 17 wheels/tires, added 5100's with 888 coils for lift, and replaced driver cv bushing. Front end still sagged so swapped to ADS 2.5 adjustable. The changes compounded transmission shift issues and decrease MPG. I've since changed to 4.88 gear and just ordered vftune. The past 6 years I've learned a lot about my truck and have been fun in doing mods...I love my truck! If you want to go down this trail your at the right place with lots of experience here on the sight. I'll just say get out your

 

Honestly, if you just want to level the truck get front spacers and be done with it. I did it for a short while, even wheeled with them. Small spacer pucks up front isn't the end of the world. Or, if you feel like spacers are the evil of all suspension, 5100 on stock springs. I did a set on a buddy's f150. He loved them, and our alignment shop even gave me props on them

 

I'm new at this too and am still learning, however I just lifted my truck recently. If you want to stay minimal like you're saying, 5100 struts/shocks with factory coils and springs will do the job. You could set the struts on the first notch and get about 3/4" in the front only. If you want to raise the rear at all, you'll need spacer blocks or add-a-leaf springs.

 

Some don't know when its best to leave things alone. The chances of having some issue after the these trucks are lifted get pretty good.

 

Not really.... The Pro has front lift from the factory. Leveling the truck with stock rear height is fine. When you get into coil overs and upgrade upper control arms is where longevity is a concern.

 

I understand that modifying OEM parts affect your vehicle, just trying to negate those affects is all. I’ve had it almost a year and I’m ready to start personalizing, after all that’s a big reason I bought a Taco. It’s pretty exciting if you ask me!

 

Or I just want to build my truck the way I want it? There a plenty of people on here that lift there trucks, I’m trying to be as smart as possible about it. That’s why I’m asking advice! You can keep yours at stock height all day long, that’s your truck.
