OK that explains what I'm looking at. But why not have the slots on crossbars facing up?

sorry, I thought your 'yep' reply was to my question. doh!
the product does have slots on the cross bars, per what I see in seller product info.
just wondering why this install has the cross bars oriented so that the slots are not accessible.

I don't know where the "Yep" post came from. I didn't post it, but you quoted me as having posted it. Weird.

Yeah, I wonder about the slots also.

There are t slots on the bars. No way to install anything without first loosening one side and pulling the bar partly out to install the bolt through the slot. Here’s a pic of mine.

I assume they use 8020 extrusions. If so, use these... they drop in without having to loosen the bars. Of course pick the right size for your application.

    First post...

Here is my version of the rack.

Difficult to find 6 inch led to fill openings correctly but trial/error and lots of Amazon returns worked out and found some that fit. I will be smoking out amber lenses with Lamin-x to make more subdued. The side lights are only for overnight fishing needs at beach if campfire not enough.

I like the cheap rack, with 3 adopted kids, its all I could justify to myself at the time!!! Love this forum.

I was finally able to mount my Plano box on it. Used M8 bolts that were the right size

Could someone with the DV8 rack post a few close ups of the bars and attachments? Possible the bar size measurements too? I’d like to know if this is 10- or 15-series extrusion.

By the way, you can also use “drop-in” nuts with extrusion that don’t require sliding from the terminations.

    thanks!

My rack came with 12 washers (on the right not sure the correct name for these) and what appears to be light bar mounting brackets. On their site it says that they have brakets available for 40 inch light bars, So I Was wondering if anyone knows if these are they? Additionally, I was wondering where the washers should go? 40 inch brakes are huge.
Have you tried calling the manufacturer?

The “washers” are actually spacers if you need them to lengthen one of the cross bars. It’s what I saw on the video from extremeterrain.com.

Sorry Meant to write brackets not brakes. And what I meant was the brackets to hold a 40" bar so they should theoretically be 2.5 inches long. After some analysis, I think the two things to the left in my picture are the brackets for the 40" bar and if you mount a 45" you just use the holes directly in the rack.

Figured I would throw a quick note about the DV8 rack. I bought it due to it being the cheapest option in all honesty. When I first got it I was experiencing a lot of wind noise, however I have since been able to dial it in to the point that the rack is silent. Here are my recommendations:
    - Make sure to put the rubber edge trim included in the purchase on the front wind diffuser will completely cut vibrations from that piece.
    - Put the wind diffuser in the bottom most position.
    - Use a power drill to tighten the screws.
    - Most of the noise comes from the rearmost part of the rack vibrating against the shark fin antenna. I put a strip of "camper seal foam
tape" from Lowes running the length of this piece on the bottom side. Now the foam hits the antenna vs raw metal. The reason for
running the whole length is to dampen the vibrations of that piece. This tape could also be used to mitigate any other vibrations you
    experience.

Now that I have done that I've spent net $510 for the rack ($140 less than competitors) and I love it. Few other taco owners have this rack so it definitely is a breath of fresh air from the traditional Prinsu look. Looking forward to putting a light strip on it.
