The longer I own this truck the more I can’t stand it. Just drove 120 mile round trip to the dirt bike track. All I have is one bike and some gear and this thing just plain out struggles on the highway. I live in Florida and it’s basically flat. No matter what I do I just can’t keep it at a steady 70-75 without it dropping into 4th when the wind blows. It’s by far the worst driving truck I’ve ever owned and I’ve had every brand. Even my buddy in his 96 Toyota was easily passing me. I know it’s been posted a million times just had to vent. That was the most miserable ride. Seems like either it’s getting worse or I’m just over it. If I could afford it I’d trade this shit tomorrow. Am I just supposed to drive it wound up to 3500 rpms all the time

Can’t afford anything else right now or I would. Not tuning it either. Name one other vehicle that drives like this. Even my 07 frontier would kill this thing. It’s a beautiful truck but the drivetrain is pure shit

We don’t even know what truck you have. 4 cyl or V6? What year and model? I just drove my SR 4 cyl round trip 600 miles with a 400 lb load on the way home and it did fine, mostly 2100- 2200 rpm at 70 - 75 mph, only occasional shift to 3100-3500 on some grades but that’s nothing I don’t sweat higher rpms that’s where the power is. If your running 3500 rpm on a flat road you might have a problem. Check it out.

2018 double cab v6 automatic. Probably had a total of under 300 between my bike and gear. When it drops to 4th it stays indefinite until I totally off the gas. Then it goes to 6th but by then I lost so much speed it does it again. Whatever I’ll deal with it just never drove anything I had to change my driving habits so much. I’ve tried s mode and drive and it’s just a hard truck to drive on a trip

Cool story bro. Why do I give a crap what gear the truck is in? I hit cruise control and cross my ankles and never need to touch the gas or brakes after that for hours at a time on the interstate. All these internet engineers. Trade it in - they're high demand vehicles - you can get yourself a Tundra and disappear over the horizon in any gear you want.

Your a big help. I was kinda thinking there’s something wrong with it but now that the king set me straight I’ll just beat it to death and not worry. Completely normal to run 3500-4000 on flat highway

The engine and Powertrain is excellent. There is nothing wrong other than it needs to be regeared. You want to be happy,..regear to at least 4.88’s. Do some research on YouTube for all those that carry that amount of weight around all the time. Do the regear and fall in love again for the first time.

Nothings perfect. Either like it enough to keep it or dont. Either way, none of us can fix the issue that you have with your truck.

    My 16 aint perfect.
My 08 duramax ate glow plugs.
My 01 Cummins ate trannys and head gaskets.

    They all have issues.
