Don't you just wish that these people would get seriously injured in their self-inflicted car wrecks instead of being released time and time again to risk the public and its property? I hear it is much harder to drink and drive with hand controls in a wheelchair van...

We slept like shit. One of the dogs started barking and growling like someone was trying to break in the house at 1am.. So the adrenaline and quick wave of fear made falling asleep difficult.

I finished my coffee and nothing is happening. I want a refund.

The project I'm building is going to 24 hour rotating shifts for 7 weekends in a row. At the end of each weekend, one lucky volunteer gets to ride a test train (our building is over a train track so they make a representative from each firm ride a test train before opening to the public). The test train runs before revenue hours so it's usually between 2 and 3 AM. This was my weekend.

My schedule is usually normal with the start time. I wake up around 5 and start pretty regularly at 6:30 in my office. Quitting time for me ranges from 5 PM on a rare occasion, 7-8 PM is becoming a lot more normal than I'd like to admit but it's been as late as 10 PM.

Why run a test train? Can't they just look at the tracks?

Also those hours are not ideal, especially with the kiddos and the wife. But hopefully those 24/7 hours get the project done that much sooner!

The train runs across multiple active projects and some of them are actual track work, replacing tracks, switches or signals. The intent is to have a representative for each project so, if there's a problem, they have you as a captive audience. Our project is just going up and over, it's very uneventful for us.

The 24 hour shifts are just work we can't perform during normal hours because of the train. It's not actually accelerating the work, just keeping us on pace.

I’d be wanting some hazard pay for some test rides!! Pretty neat though even if it is an old thing to you by now:thumbsup:

The test train actually is pretty neat. When they replace the tracks or a switch, whoever replaced it and the engineers all get out, walk ahead and watch the train roll through to make sure nothing is out of the ordinary. I get to see how the signals system works and the shit show that ensues when it doesn't. Publicly, the MBTA comes across an inefficient system, but the people who actually run the day to day operations and engineering are pretty squared away and know these systems like the back of their hand.

I think I've seen that one, was it white? I agree that it looked better than I expected, but it still wasn't good.

Yeah, it was white. It wasn't great, but it was also a 20 year old truck and the aluminum bed was better than the swiss cheese look I'm sure it had prior!

Clean beds go for around $2,500 or so. Not worth it in my opinion. I'd rather save mine. The floor was bad because of that drop in liner. I'd much rather invest $600 or so and a lot of time than drop that kind of money for something. If they were in good shape and like $1,500, then I would consider it.
I saw that. Not a fan of how that lined up at all lmao. We have an 8' white alumiduty bed out back that I could've bought, but I don't want the mismatch.

You also got the benefit of having the bed off and touching up under there too!
