For the sake of saftey. Why not relocate the oilpan to the top of the engine.

Gravity is the reason why not...............

Perhaps one day when anti-gravity oil is invented. Similar to the anti-gravity batteries we can buy now.

Ok, so what I don't get is why you guys even bother with oil plugs in the first place?

Why not just use a topsider/mitivac? Stick a tube down the dipstick hole and suck the oil out.

Take topsider to autoparts store and dump it out.

Even less mess than all these fancy valves.

I have the hand pump version Mityvac 7201 and the pneumatic version MV7300, both work just great.

I have pulled the drain plugs after pumping out the oil, there wasn't but a tablespoon left.

Do you even need to use oil pans and all that mess?

$100 fix for a $0.20 problem. Problem is removing the plug.

    Nope.

I think what all the people questioning are missing is the fact that alot of people run aftermarket skids with oil drain valves. I ran the stock plug until I got skids and then installed an EZ Valve with the skid. MUCH easier to not have to drop a real skid to do an oil change. Especially if you're running steel skids!

I'm not too dumb or lazy to undo a drain bolt, it's just a pain in the ass with a real skid plate.

But the "character" built by dropping a steel IFS skid on my face got me to where I am today!

You're opinion, and you're entitled to it. Me? I like it. Why? Because I do. Simple as that. It saves me 30 seconds on my oil change and reduces the 'oil down the sleeve' syndrome to zero, but at the end of the day, it's my truck, the cost of the Fumoto valve was my $50 and that's all there is to it. I ain't no kid, and I know how to use tools... a LOT of tools. I'm not an auto tech, but I consider myself a pretty advanced shade-tree mechanic and this works for me. YMMV.

So how does the valve help you cleanup the drain pans?

Sorry if this has been covered, but how does it pay for itself? The alternative (no Fumoto valve) is free, as far as I know.

One cool suggestion is flowing directly via the hose into (gallon) jugs. No nasty pan.

I guess you don't need to buy a washer every change. So eventually you will save money on washers? I just enjoy the fact of not having to drop my skid.

I have a hole in my skid. But, I need to remove the front skid to get to the filter (4runner).:(

I plan on getting one, though. I just was wondering how it saved money. I've never replaced a drain plug washer on any of my cars.:notsure:

I mean, time is money as well. If all I have to do is plop the hose on the valve, put the other end in a jug and turn the knob, then twenty minutes later turn the knob off and cap the jug without having to clean anything up that's an absolute win for me.
