Any guitar players on TW?

I've been to that truck stop traveling from Bloomington to visit my folks near Sweetwater back when they were in Indiana.

It's a small town. But it's only 20 mins from Indy. Then another 2 hrs to Sweetwater.

Sounds like a pretty suspicious stop when you're that close to your destination.

 

I would wager that the transporter wouldn’t have known which pallet contained those guitars though, or that they would even know how high value they were. Which is why my money is on it being someone from Gibson or sweetwater who knew exactly what they were

 

But where was the driver?
And wouldn't this pallet had to be the last one loaded? In order to get to it?

Did they take them off the pallet individually or did they unload the entire pallet with a fork truck?

I'm sure the driver is being questioned extensively. Plus there cameras all over a truck stop.

 

They would know exactly where it is. Even the small company I work for uses load sheets, those tell you where shit is on your truck. Either way, they'll be caught fairly quickly I think.

 

That’s true... maybe he was taking an extraordinarily long shit? Definitely sketchy all around.

Do they list specific guitars though on those sheets? Like pallet 1 is some Baretts, pallet 2 are these Gibson’s of high value. (I don’t know, I’ve never dealt with this stuff). If so, my money switches to transport people and Gibson people since it left the Gibson shipping facility and would have been loaded under their supervision I’d imagine. Who knows. Hope we get more updates on this heist, I’m invested now!

 

They could have got lucky, maybe it was just random. I didn't read the story but they could have stolen other shit on the truck, but only the guitars made the story due to the high value...

 

Hard to say without knowing the shipper/transport/chain of custody. Most drivers don't give a shit, they just care about weight and miles. Would have had a bill of lading stuck to the pallet identifying what was on it and in what amounts at the very least...

I'm wondering if everything on that truck was going to Sweetwater. Someone in charge of shipping/receiving at gibson who loaded that particular pallet last. Called some goons, knew the driver.

Made a stop just 2.5 hrs from sweetwater.
Goons roll in, driver has IBS. Takes a long shit. Goons roll in, unload.

Already got a fence set up. Boom, 3 way split, $30k each.

 

Gotta be camera footage.
Unless the driver....who knows that truck stop, intentially parked out of camera view.

 

But if it was a non guitar crew who pilfered that pallet, how would they know the value?
Just some guitars is all they knew.
