CSF All Aluminum Performance Radiator For our trucks FINALLY!!!

Basically what I have but have not installed the mishi but likely will due to recent events

 

My biggest complain was the mounts are farther out causing a need to seal it. Its like what the hell is going on here. As far as the top goes I was able to get it to align without issue. You do have to play around with radiator a bit to find a good middle ground. If you just drop it in then it likely wont align. Its close but looks factory.

Also lets not forget the shitty shipping and dented mounts (luckily they are aluminum and the radiator mounts are rubber.

 

I have both a FJ and Tacoma radiators sitting in garage. Both shipped fine, no bends. I think they are packed as good as can be expected for any product, but if they are thrown around and dropped by knuckleheads at UPS, then shipping damage can occur no matter what product is in the box. Not CSF's fault.

I do agree with @hualampeter where I wish the Tacoma radiator was truely a bolt in and they accounted for the extra thickness of the core when providing the mounting locations for the shroud. That seems like a really easy/bad screw up. But these things are made in Indonesia (printed on the bottom side of the box), and so making a change requires a whole new production run. And I think it was rushed, and no actual install testing was done beyond whether the radiator mounts themselves lined up with the OEM ones. They likely took the cad files from the FJ, modified, and sent it to production.

I plan to mess with the shroud fitment, grind plastic, mill the mounting locations, or whatever to try to get the shroud to fit right. In the end, for my application, I think that will be better for me. So hence selling the FJ unit.

Let me know if anyone is interested in buying. I don't know what the current price or availability is. Are they actually available now, and shipping, or is it a drop ship and backorder situation like when I purchased?

 

My box came undamaged and I do agree may not be their fault but its been documented a ton of times happening to people. Given that they could add more padding around the soft bushing mounts. They are not protected in shipment very well.

I thought about grinding them down as you mentioned but had already installed the radiator. Likely they did what noted. It the top shroud mount was about 1/4" shorter it would be near perfect. seal may still be nice to ensure flow but likely not.

 

Does anyone know if I need these two overflow hoses? Or does the stock tacoma one work?I’m going with a different aluminum radiator but same concept lol

 

If it’s only a tiny bit spilling out in that kind of heat it’s probably fine

Oh yeah definitely not that lol. It’s just a little bit on the shroud and the skid plate. My resi is still at the full line.

I don’t think the cap is supposed to leak at all. Any boil over or expansion is supposed to go into the reservoir. Maybe check the outer cap seal and seat for damage. I’ve had it leak around the overflow tube but never around the cap. It doesn’t sound critical but still not 100%.

 

I just got my fj reservoir in. Isn’t there suppose to be a seal for the cap? Did your guys’d have a seal like the Tacoma one?

Anyone having problems with leaking? I have a Tacoma CSF radiator and mashimoto hoses and it appears to be leaking at the upper radiator hose and radiator junction near the overflow reservoir. I’ve tried new hose clamps and that didn’t fix it. Thoughts?

 

How long have you had it in. Mine is fine. Going on 2 yrs with mine

So, I just called CSF after I got a returned email stating their “user’s mailbox is full”

I was told I could get no answers to my questions about their product because the number listed on the website is just their warehouse; that I should call one of their distributors (ie URD).

I was going to ask if they addressed the packaging damage and shroud fitment issues with the 7092 model update.

 

Having read just the last page in this thread(Page 91 a/o 1:45pm 11/9/20), I know that I'll never buy another one of their radiators. I had issues with 2 CSF radiators on another vehicle I previously owned. Their quality control & design needs work.

 

Ive been running mine and some small residue on the overflow tube but overall its been fine. 1000% on quality. Like many my mounts were bent which I hammered out and did not want to deal with returning it. 2nd their plug and play motto is utter BS. The mounts for the shroud were cut by a blind man and do not create a good seal between the radiator and shroud which is documented big time here. Almost had my truck die and at least hit my coolant warning light once (> 300) and in general is hotter then expected). Having to add your own seal and hope it works is BS. I called them out on a post when they came out with the 3rd gen. they were happy to post about the new setup but obviously ignored any response to it having piss poor fitment. This goes for Tacoma and FJ version. if they can trim down the upper mount 1/4" or you do it your self then it would be perfect. Their mold needs to be adjusted. If it was a BMW/Porsche or something else it would get more review they seem to focus on the "performance" cars.

 

I did a little more digging at their web site and I see they offer the same radiator part # for both the 2TR-FE and 1GR-FE engine - 2nd Gen
An online Toyota parts seller shows 3 different radiators for the 2TR-FE and 2 for the 1GR-FE.
CSF has created a one-size fits all for the 2nd Gen. That would explain part of their problem.
Again - I'll never buy one.

 

yah who knows. but yah its been good but the fitment and claim of plug and play is annoying. When my e-fan arrives I am going to pull and re seal again. Right now running HVAC heat tape to "seal" it. Works actually pretty good but isnt a long term solution.

 

After reading this page, I don't think this is a supplier I want to order from.

 

Yep - I would save my $$$ and buy a new OEM radiator from an online Toyota parts dealer.
