    Hello all,

I have a 2007 Off-Road Taco and looking to get either a 2020 or 2021 4Dr 5ft bed 4x4. Anyone have any issues with a 4x4? I would like to get that since I am looking to Overlanding in the future and start building up my rig. I have never owned a 4x4 and wanted to know if anyone had any issues with it. Thank you in advance for the suggestions/recommendations.

If protesting and looting start, you'll be covered to escape the mob. Through the fountain and over the grassy knoll.:fistbump:

No issues here. Hi/Lo range, locker have all worked great. Been very impressed with this trucks performance. Coilovers, tires and vfTune haven't hurt either.

4x4 is completely unnecessary unless you need it.

I bought my 1st 4X4 in 1976. Only owned one other truck or SUV since then that wasn't 4X4 and I hated it within weeks. It took me about a year and a half to get in a position financially to be able to go back.

4X4's cost a bit more initially, but are also worth more later when you sell or trade. It's pretty much a wash. The difference in fuel mileage in modern trucks is negligible. Tires CAN be more expensive, but don't have to be unless you start modifying the trucks and go with much larger tires.

Over the last 45 years the only repairs I've paid for on 4X4 systems were due to operator error.

Went from a PreRunner 4x2 to a TRD Off Road 4x4. Love the option. Haven’t used it yet, but encourages me to get out more!

Thank you all who have responded. I googled to see if there have been any problems/issues with the 4x4 for 2016-2020 and did not find much hits. I guess that may mean there have not been a lot of issues. The saying goes, “better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it”. Of course if one has the finances to do that then do it.
