Where Have You Off-Roaded Today? 3rd Gen

We got out just in time before the fire got really bad. There’s a no trespassing sign at the end of the trail but from there you pretty much at the waterfall.

 

Up in Coyote Flats near Bishop CA, pretty empty this weekend, but freaking cold!

 

Went up to the mountains to look for some falls color, end up playing in the snow instead. Made for a good adventure.

Got to rescue a new Ranger today on top of Georgia Pass. Nice truck, but still no Toyota.

Badger Lake via Bonney Meadows - shelf roads were sketch with how icy it was. I would wait for more snow or take the other trail up.

Last Sat just went up to Rainbow Falls for a bit. Actually got some damage for the first time. Nothing to the truck itself, just the handle for the tire carrier. I guess I am a bit to long (departure angle) for these steps!!

Nice to see a long box out there off-roading.

 

The big one is Pennask lake, and you can see a couple of the smaller lakes that surround it. After tonight's snow, I am guessing that will be off limits to us all, maybe for the rest of winter. I've tried up there in winter, but not going to get through 3 feet of snow on the logging road which it will be in another month. Nice play to get stuck, but don't expect a tow out once the deep of winter is here.

Just takes a little extra thought, but haven’t had issues going anywhere my short bed friends go!

 

Crusin around the West Desert this afternoon, trying to burn up some gas, for my fuel pump recall install on Wednesday.

Beautiful out there after our recent storms. Amazing views of the Stansbury Mountains

 

Yeah I've seen those guys, they do good work, but they won't be going up there either come winter. You'd need a snowcat or such to get through. Top of Coq hwy can get over 10 feet of snowfall each winter. Most of the backroads up there will be blockaded by the logging crews to keep guys from getting stuck.
