Yep, like I said tho, I haven't ran it yet, so I'm not sure where the pavement ends. But apparently it becomes the fire road after the north end of your blue line and continues on up the mountain.

I'd love to go but gotta work. Supposedly the Conway River is another really good native trout stream in Rapidan.
I've only done about 2/3 of Rapidan Road(649) west of Criglersville. It was a good, gentle run. Similar to PMR in difficulty(meaning rarely need 4wd, but air down for comfort) but much more scenic as it follows the Rapidan River headwaters up the mountain into the Shenandoah National Park.

Also, I never looked up where to get a pass/permit, as I have a VA fishing license. If anyone doesn't have a VA hunting or fishing license, I believe you need to purchase a permit

I just bought a new fishing license here. I clicked on the license/permits, Created an account and bought my yearly fresh water. You can see all lic./permits available. Purchase it all right there. or you can call a number to find out where to get one.

My printer just spit out my fishing license.

Edit: Since you already have a Lic. click the login button, fill in the info and see if it pulls you info. if not create an account if ya wanna.

Radio Frequency assignment for tomorrow:

If you have a GMRS, we will be on Channel 15, CTCSS privacy code 13.

If you have a baofeng, use frequency 462.550. Go into the menu and change R-CTCS and T-CTCS to 103.5Hz.

Based on the previous June PFK trip no need to change.

I know I'm totally new at GMRS, but privacy code 13 look to me like 100.00Hz, 103.5Hz looks like code 14.

Also, have a where and when for linking up with you guys?

 

I think different charts are slightly different with the privacy code frequencies, but I’ve used my baofeng on 103.5 to talk to my gmrs on privacy 13 for quite awhile now.

I just looked at a few other charts and they have 103.5 has code 13. Don't know why there seems to be some inconstancies.

As Randy mentioned we had everything working earlier this summer with those freqs but we will be doing a radio check anyways before leaving so we can compare then. We need to do a wiki or google document for meets for this group defining the exact specs so its documented (sounds like work).

Everyone fill up and we would take 55 West and then roll into Fort Valley and go to PMR and hit part of Taskers; turn around and either do PMR again or head south to Rapidan area?
