I wanted to be busy at work but got the phone call asking if I could take the oldest to get his physical since the doctors office called and asked about changing our 3:45 visit to 2:30....

Little bit of OT today to go take our first look at our new support truck for work. Pretty excited. Nice road trip out through the state!

This is a little tough to answer, but since no one else stepped up, I'll do my best.... Up until not long ago (almost) everyone was installing CBs in their trucks. And a lot of guys (and some gals) still have them, and don't really want to jump ship. Now, during most recent group meet up in AOAA, we used GMRS (or equivalent) and they worked just fine, maybe even better than fine. Definitely better than some CB setups!
There are people on here that are involved in some FB groups, and they promote GMRS and switch over from CB.

Tldr; GMRS seems to be *better than CB, but requires a licence. If more local people will realize that, maybe they will switch over to GMRS.

Yes it requires a license but it's just a technicality. You pay your $50 and are done with it. GMRS can also legally do up to 50watt, where CB is legally limited to 4. Granted it's still mostly line of sight which suffers in the mountains.

The fee is $70 for 10 year license that covers the whole family/household.
