Hey guys, long time toyota truck guy. Just traded a Subaru STi for a 2021 TRD Offroad. Had it for 4 days, driving home from work and the engine died. Dealer says cyl #5 no compression....haha...

Not sure the purpose of the thread.. Maybe share your 3rd gen taco engine horror stories here..

Lets see what they do for me......

Edit: Let me add the real situation..
started violently shaking while on the highway @ 70 mph and engine stalled loss of power steering and power brakes of course. started up and barely ran enough to get off the highway, but then died again and wouldnt start or even sputter. This is a safety issue for sure. luckily i was in good enough spot to make it off the highway.

I told them to get me a new truck. I dont want that one. Better be a big price break coming or an upgrade to a TRD Pro or they can give me my car back and shove it..

They'll replace the broken engine parts, and give you your truck back, unfortunately. Probably a 120,000 mile warranty, I dunno.

Damn. I think you are the first one with an engine failure with a brand new truck.

Sorry to hear about your trouble with your new truck. Not sure if it is related, but there is a bit of a history so far with compression/valve issues on the 3.5L. Hopefully they take care of you. I don't blame you for wanting a new truck. I had a 2019 but got rid of it because of problems as well. Let us know how it goes.

I see a new set of heads, some missing hardware and broken connectors when you get back one of the benefits of flat rate. Bring a qualified third party for inspection prior to pick up could have some fun with that.

Stuff happens .. it’s not a common problem . Sucks that this happened. let them fix it and give u a extensive warranty on the engine . On your question on dealer Depends on the management there if they would be willing to give u a new truck or your old vehicle back . But I Doubt it .. we’ll best of luck .

It ran, just rough right? You can rule out a dropped valve, cuz it would not run w a valve bouncing around in the cylinder.

    Maybe the valve bent?
