Are the Toyota dealers around you guys offering loaner vehicles when you're truck is in for work? My Tacoma was at the dealer all last week to get some warranty work done and they never offered a loaner, when I asked about one they just said that they don't do loaners very often and only if they have to keep your vehicle for a long time.
Is this just a Toyota thing? When I had my Sierra the GMC dealers would always offer a loaner even if they only had the truck for a day. It's not a huge deal for me because I work from home and out of my service truck, but a week without a vehicle would suck for someone who has to commute every day.

Depends I guess on the dealer and warranty work... the bigger warranty jobs should come with some type of loaner car as with some recalls

Hey man mine always give me one. Only if it’s warranty work other wise I’m good buddies with my advisor and he said they normal charge $30 a day if not warranty. But anything with Toyota is a known battle

Around here they tend to offer a loaner if you bought the vehicle there. If not, it's hit or miss.

I think it's hit or miss depending on the dealer and what type of service you're there for....and how persuasive you can be. In your case would've been quite persuasive

Warranty work comes with a loaner at both Toyota dealers I’ve purchased through. Out of pocket is $35 a day

I always get a loaner, really depends on dealer and your advisor. They gave me a loaner for a whole weekend when I had my windshield replaced (out of pocket not warranty), week for my rear diff replacement (warranty), etc. If I ask for a truck they'll appease if they can too. Can't stress enough the importance of finding and building a good service advisor relationship.

Here in Hawaii they offer loaners, but the wait list is longer then if you dont need one. Appointments without loaners are 1 week out, with loaners is 1-2 months. If you can wait, then you can get a loaner. They may give you one sooner if you bring your car in for service and they found something major that will keep your car out for a long period of time. But that is based on availability.

my dealership calls Uber and gives you a ride and they pay for it. Then when they call you to pick it up, they will set that Uber up for you also.

I got a loaner RAV4 when I had my frame inspected and re-squirted on my 2-gen. Otherwise, I've never had a service that took an over night in about 200,000 miles on Tacoma's so I guess I don't really know what their policy is.

If its over four hours' worth of work mine will provide the loaner without me having to ask. The fuel pump recall (right at four hours) was the only one where they didn't offer, but they did give me a ride in the courtesy shuttle.

I actually prefer the shuttle for one day jobs. Doing the loaner check in/check out process is a minor pain in the ass.

I've only had one time where the service took over a couple of hours - they gave me a loaner. Usually mine is just the 5K maintenance and I'm in and out in an hour.

This dealer(Larry H Miller) offered an uber to and from the dealer but nothing for the week in between drop off and pick up. One of the service writers was kind of a dick too, however the tech that worked on the truck was great, probably the best I've ever worked with.
I guess GMC spoiled me; loaners every time (I even got a Denali one time too:cool:) And they detailed the truck inside and out. Like I said though, not a huge deal for me just because of my job. But for what we pay for these things, I'd think Toyota would want to at least offer them when vehicles are in for warranty work.

How about the fuel pump recall? That seems to take quite a bit of time. Don't think I want to sit around 4 hours+ for that.....

Loaners are not free so no, most dealers don't offer them. Toyota is in the rental car business to keep people from asking for a loaner.
