    I have 265k on the duramx and have ran duratracs for every set. Usually get about 60-65k on a set. I got talked into a set of the Maxx and regretted them. Terrible on snow/ice and sucked in mud. Never going that route again.

    much harder compound.

    Id just stick with the duratracs then. Running an MT you'll risk not having a good time on the snow. The duractracs are the best "hybrid" AT for snow duties.

    Otherwise the M/S tire is made for mud and snow. I've not had any issues with them.

    snow is the tricky part.

    Granted depending on what kind of snow you're dealing with the most could sway you to try a cheaper MT. but only if its deep stuff and stays malleable. If it feezes and melts constantly then you're fucked on an MT.

    can't really think of any MT that is "good" in snow for the most part. Other than real deep shit where they do shine. But still. Would not pick on 99% of time.

    I think every MT sucks in packed snow and ice. My KM2s were especially bad, the Hankooks being slightly better. Would be curious to get a set siped, but I would never run them on a vehicle I regularly need to use in winter conditions, so I'll probably never try it.

    I've talked shit about Duratracs for a while as I've seen like 3 of them blow sidewalls.


    That being said - I'm planning on getting a set for the 2nd gen next year as I want a load range C AT I'm comfortable running in the winter, and that's about the only option.

    KM2’s on my 1st gen in Missouri Winters were horrible. I couldn’t imagine being somewhere like Colorado or Wyoming with them!

    I could imagine. I just live somewhere so I don’t live in snow. Then I don’t have to worry about it :p

    Speaking of MTRs, I wonder if they plan to make an updated version anytime soon. I feel like they’ve been around for quite a bit.

    Late, but oh well.
    Never had any problem with Dick Cepek Extreme Country’s. I’ve had 2 sets on my hunting truck and it literally only left my driveway when the weather was straight shit on the mountain.

    Fairly cheap too.

    Well I was also a young adult who drove like a teenager thinking it was fun to spin out around corners, so my experience might have been a bit skewed. I’ll have to go and test out my KM3’s in the snow when we finally get some in the mountains.

    you're talking KO2s he's talkign KM2s.

    I can attest the KM2s are not good either in snow.

    I grew up never putting snow tires on as well. But now, no way. They are amazing. I love them. But I probably have to drive in the worst conditions more constantly than anyone else in here(thats really active I should say)

    Planning on sticking with 265/75s on the new truck. Almost all LT tires in that size, including KO2s, are load range E, and I want to avoid that.

    Depends on how much snow you drive in, but the roads are snowy here a lot of the winter. My WRX with snow tires was incredible in the snow, Volvo was pretty close to. Nice to have the added safety and confidence in your setup when you're driving on snow regularly.

    We'll see how the 2nd gen with the Falken ATs does. I actually really like those tires so far, just with they weren't P rated.

    The biggest difference for me stopping. You can REALLY stop. And if you loose it you can always regain control. Can't do that in other tires. Can I can drive almost normal speeds in winter instead of 35-45 everywhere.



    What wheel size? You stuck on a 16 or do you have 17s? Some good options in C load in 17s.

    Stopping for sure is one of the biggest differences, but it's just about loosing traction in general. Nice to be able to go around a corner at a decent speed and not worry about going off the road.

    I like the TRD Fakelocks that are on it, which are 16s, but I might consider swapping the Stealth 6s from the 1st gen on. Will be getting actual beadlocks for that thing whenever I get around to that build.

    The set on the 4Runner has 30k on them and I’ve had no problem ice-skating the ten or so times over togowotee this year. Can’t really comment on the sidewalls, SXS sees all the shit these days.
