got a pic of a decent buck for down here at 3:30 this morning... I have to figure out wheee he is during daylight now

 

62 degrees here at 6am rain on the way . Stayed my ass in bed
Hunted most of the day yesterday . Morning until 11 then 3 until dark . Saw 2 small bucks . Really out for the bear !

 

Have black bear recently started showing up there or have they always been around?

They've just started showing up around here the past few years.

 

Yea buddy of mine in the western part of the state has had bears run off everything on his land. Said he hasn’t seen a single deer in person or on camera this season, just bears.

 

We used to hunt in Halifax county back in the early 2000's, one of the land owners had a bear on camera then. I have a friend who still hunts there and he said they are plentiful now.

 

They arent as high numbers as white tail but i read some where they are next proliferic animal after white tail in the northern hemisphere

 

Just started showing up. There have been a few around over the years but not like now all of a sudden they are being seen more often .

 

That’s why I want to kill this one

 

Spotted this big guy on the south side of my Property in East Texas

It’s an 18 hour drive

I’m going to try to go home middle of December and hunt but I’m sure he’ll be long gone

Forecast looks like thunderstorms when I’m walking out to the stand and climbing a metal ladder.
oh boy, what could go wrong?
It should be in the 40’s it’s going to be in the 60’s.
The only thing I can hope for is the bucks are horny enough to walk around during the day.
Might bring my hammock seat but not sure.
Right now I’m undecided but I keep seeing that 6 pointer 25 yards from last year in my mind.
I think he’s the 8 pointer I see in the camera.
They are there, just 8 hours on the wrong side of the clock.
I think I will be all alone this time though.

 

50 degrees at the moment . I will be headed to the woods around noon for the remainder of the day . Temps finally dropping . Cold front moving in this weekend !

Yes , high temps next week here are in the high 40s overnights in the 20s

 

High 50’s, low 30’s here

Think I heard a fox cry very close.
Very quiet grunt sounded like a full blown call.
