    Hey folks,

2016 TRD OR. I have NOT done the 2wd diff lock mod. Scan Gauge isn't finding any codes.

On my dash, I have the following lights on:
    -TRAC OFF light on
    - Slip indicator (swirvey road symbol) light on
    - ABS light on
    - the rear diff lock light is flashing.

What I've tried so far that did NOT fix the issue:
-Tried holding down the overhead buttons for rear diff lock and then TRAC each for 3 seconds,
-Tried actually engaging the rear diff locker while in 4lo on a gravel road, it did engage, but then the same dash light issue resumed once I when back to 2wd.
-Tried disconnecting battery and leaving it disconnected for a few min.
-Tried force clearing codes via my scan gauge.

Is there a fuse or fuses that could be to blame? Any other ideas would be helpful.

Pull the codes lil homie. Didju do a visual inspection for rodents under the hood / rear diff?

No rodents. I have a scan gauge hooked up and it didn't find any codes. Also tried force clearing.

I know you said you disconnected the battery for a few min but Scotty shows in this vid there’s a little more than just disconnecting. Have a watch and try what else he has here.

Also, not all obd2 scanners are created equal. I use the ThinkDriver OBD2 reader that goes beyond all other ‘same type’ scanners by reading modules too. It sure takes the guess work out of the equation.

    (my 2 cents)
All those lights are pretty common and could be about a million things, except the rear diff lock light.

That ones is quite rare, and normally only occurs when the actual wire running to the diff is damaged or the switch in the diff is damaged, or the diff is locked and wont unlock. (the first happens with rodents, the second happens during regear, the last is unlikely but could happen in some situations)

    Any mods?
    Done a regear?
What was happening during the drive when this started, and a few drives before that one?

To evaluate you REALLY want to have techstream. If you work on your own truck, its worth it to get a dongle and a copy installed.

If I was in the field without techstream I would:
Try reset by doing a battery pull.
If it returned I would jack a rear tire and do a manual check to see if the rear diff was locked or not.
If the rear is unlocked I would then check the diff lock feedback switch with an ohmmeter, switch should be open with diff unlocked (connector with Blue and Black wires going into the diff).
With truck off, make sure the wire going to the ecu from the diff lock feedback switch (blue wire going to truck) is NOT grounded, and the Black wire is grounded.
Try driving the truck with the diff lock feedback switch disconnected (so the ECU thinks the diff is unlocked)

    Report back

thanks for this! I do have 4.88, but that was done years ago. Nothing recently. I wasn’t driving when it happened. Turned the truck on in the driveway on noticed it. I did just do annual fluid film. I suppose some could have gotten in the Q/D electrical connection on or near rear diff?

I will manually check if it’s locked, but I’m almost certain it’s not since turning on dry pavement would have felt pretty different. I’ll then Move down your list.

All you need to do is drive the vehicle don’t disconnect the battery, don’t try to erase any codes, don’t hook up any scan tools...just drive my guess is 25 to 100 miles and it doesn’t have to be all at one time. Once all of your monitors are complete the ecu will reset and the lights will go out.

So it's a drive cycle issue?

I’m not sure if it’s drive cycle or relearn but I know how to create the condition and the only fix for me was to drive it. At the time I didn’t have a scan tool hooked up on the before and after.

i had the exact issue on a '17 minus the locker flashing - and it was a faulty steering angle position sensor...

Might sound silly but our 18 Subie had similar lights and it was the freaking gas cap.
